6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've taught at several elementary schools in this particular district, my children have attended another, so I have a lot to compare. Douglass is by far the best of all the elementary schools which I can legitimately address. The teachers are deeply concerned about their students' educational progress. Non-homeroom faculty are also greatly vested in our students, working hand in hand with the classroom teachers. The staff are caring and open, very welcoming of all who come to visit. The administration (principal and assistant principal, Mr. Barraza and Ms. Dwyer, respectively) are top notch. They too are every bit as committed to the students as are the faculty and staff, all the while not losing sight of all employees. They run the school superbly, directing first with their heads--having the interests of the students at the forefront, but also with their hearts, from the longest employed person to the student who just enrolled two minutes ago. There are many activities at Douglass, from archery to chess to rocket science (literally!). Douglass has also earned the national distinction of being a Blue Ribbon School. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCurrently, a Senior at Silva who will graduate with a 4.2 GPA, and I can tell you this school has prepared me with a strong resume for college and even the workforce. Silva does give you a great insight into the healthcare field and, by the time you graduate, you will definitely have a decision as to whether healthcare is for you or not. The clinical rotations at Silva are great, since they let you shadow in actual hospitals and see procedures you would only see during college such as surgeries. In addition, some senior programs even let you shadow any physician you want. As a graduating Silva student, I have obtained healthcare certifications that will allow me to work in a decent healthcare part-time job during college while building my resume for medical school. Everyone else that says that "Silva is too hard", just doesn't have the drive or doesn't put in the work to make up for a good grade. Silva is definitely not hard, it only requires a bit of determination. If you are a person who tends to underperform or slack off in school with the childish excuse that "it's too much for my mental health" then, I can assure you, you will have a bad time at Silva because you won't take responsibility for your failures and will blame it all on your teachers or your nonexistent teeneage "mental issues".Parent Review11mo ago - Career & Tech Ed Center

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI enrolled two children here a few years apart and they had wonderful experiences participating in summer research programs, band, orchestra, math competitions and more. They made lifelong friends. They are both very well prepared for University and graduated high school with associate degrees.Parent Review3y ago - Check out schools near 3229 Pera Ave #1.
