I am an involved parent with my son, and strive to show him it is important to do well in school. I can't say the teachers at this school are striving to do the same. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are new to TN from Indiana (moved down here in Nov)...I have a 4th & 2nd grader who were both doing just fine in school...since being at Pope, they want to hold my 2nd grader back (he was also bullied to the extent of sobbing every time the bus pulled up) & the 4th grader is flunking almost every class! I have a 4.0 GPA and passing all of my classes with A's. in my opinion I don't think the school is all that great because some teachers are biased and they show favoritism. They seem to not care as much. The work is not as hard as people think or say it is. We do just as much as any other school in Jackson, Tennessee. Some students are rude and they judged you for no reason. the atmosphere is not that great and they always think that the school is the best of the best when it really isn't. I won't say that it is just terrible because I really do believe that I have had some good times and I hope to have more. I just feel like if makes some improvements it will be an incredible school but for now it's just AVERAGE.Student Review10y ago

"Quiet, mostly retired people with most people keeping up their homes and maintaining their lawns. Convenient to Lowe’s and WalMart and many fast food restaurants. Not many opportunities for fine dining but there are two locations within 3 miles that are lower than fine dining but not chain restaurants. "

"Fabulous neighbors and neighborhood, in general, until flippers and slum lords started buying properties in the area, Now, the neighborhood is not nearly as safe or serene as it once was. They are slowly destroying it for everyone. "

"I've lived in Jackson my whole life. I live in South Jackson and prefer it more than North Jackson. Out south does need more apartment complexes and entertainment places like movies and bowling. "

"Traffic is not good. The bypass construction sucks. I don’t work in Jackson but the commute in the mornings is rough if you hit rush hour. The bypass construction has caused a lot of different problems. Perhaps when they get it done it’ll be better. "

"We are one of the few neighborhoods that still has trick or treating door to door. There is a park within walking distance that has softball fields, tennis courts and a walking track."

"The road has a large curve and no sidewalks so the dog must be on a leash. The neighborhood is very dog and cat friendly. "

"it's the South. People speak and wave each other whether you know them or not. That doesn't necessarily mean it's nice people, but for the most part at least they do speak. it's not hard to avoid trouble, that in itself is always good."
