The leadership and staff at L.E. White are second to none! A great environment for kids.

Being a student at this school seems nearly impossible, either you're good and they expect more or you're not good enough and they give up. In the past year I have watched multiple peers of mine be given up on by Allegan high as a whole. The expectations at this school are irrational and they all seem to be moral, being choices of the staff over choices of the school. Although they try to give the students some control of the school, they only allow us to control what doesn't matter. having 2 older siblings who have both gone to Allegan and seeing them struggle just to keep up to the point where they too were given up on and moved schools before graduation which ended in both of them getting their G.E.D's, knowing that two people who I've looked up to my whole life couldn't live up to the expectations of this school feels crippling, as if having a GPA under a 3.5 makes you unteachable or just plain stupid. The teachers are no help, if they think you did something wrong, you're already in trouble, if you dress, walk, talk, or carry yourself differently it feels criminal the way you'll be treated. The lack of discipline applied in the areas of racism, sexism, homophobia, antisemitism, and overall discrimination is ridiculous, there was a situation of three boys making outrageous comments about women and a female student had spread notes in the bathroom telling what had been said, that female was suspended whilst the 3 boys had little to no punishment, she was suspended for slander. The list of issues in this school goes on and on, and I know that no school is perfect, and they all have their problems, but this is and unreasonably long list that can continue. Claiming you can't fix a problem you don't know about when the problem in your face a slap in the face to us who have tried. CONTROL YOUR SCHOOLS ALLEGAN.

We just transferred to this school at the beginning of Jan. 2017. Every staff member we have met has been very helpful & friendly. Mr. Orr has gone above and beyond in making us feel like part of the Dawson family. He met with us over the holiday break to show our daughter the school and her classroom. He took additional time after the first day of school to check in with us and see that she had a good first day. This attention to detail is something we are truly grateful for and will never forget. Thank you, Mr. Orr, for making our new student feel special.
