5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was on the swim team 2 years ago, and was told that they were getting kicked off because of their sexual orientation. But told me, (their mom) that they drew something inappropriate, (it never happened). They also called them down to social services where they got yelled at for their sexual orientation. They also called them down for the rest of their time there just to yell at them about their name changes and other things. The teachers also witnessed bullying of my child and didn’t do anything, my child was discriminated against on multiple occasions.Other Review10mo ago - East High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm perplexed by the score of "5" that East has received. I graduated from East about a decade ago, attended a prestigious undergraduate program on the east coast, had a successful early career, and am now completing a graduate degree at MIT. This is not an uncommon trajectory for many of my classmates from East. The GreatSchools rating system can be deeply misleading. I had an academically challenging experience and rewarding social life at East. Think deeply before taking these scores seriously -- they're largely a reflection of test scores and, therefore, likely penalize schools with any significant degree of socioeconomic diversity.Other Review9y ago - Hawthorn Hills Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average- a former student Hawthorn Hills has many outstanding teachers that has an equal amount of love for every single student. In Hawthorn Hills, students may experience things they have never before, I found it that the teachers had various ways to make a students pay attention in class. After school programs are made for the kids who want to enjoy something that is part of the school and part of the community. Teachers in Hawthorn Hills has many little too much expectations to students, many students can not reach as high as the teachers want them to. One thing I want the teachers to look out more is how the kids treat one another, many teachers should know already when a student(s) are being rude to one another, it is not a hard thing to spot. Hawthorn Hills is a amazing school, I felt a dramatic change in me, I have become more confident ever since I stepped into Hawthorn Hills. This may sound silly, but I have also learned my true self at Hawthorn Hills, I finally had realized how I was acting before. The Teachers/staff members usually come up with amazing and fun ways for the students to reach goals. Changes happen in Hawthorn, some teachers get moved around on teaching. Overall, Hawthorn Hills made a huge impact on my life and my actions.Other Review7y ago - Check out schools near 921 Forest St.
