6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is a typical inner city middle school. The children are bused from all over the city to this one school. It has the largest student population for a local middle school. The Special needs students also have the largest population of all schools locally. With that said, the school is faced with juggling many different behaviors and academic struggles; however, many of the students are doing well. This school scores just as high as all of the other local middle schools except the gifted school. A few people's experience is not the majority. Keep in mind that most people don't leave reviews unless they have a gripe or complaint. The students at Syms are soaring! The teachers and staff care about the students and their jobs.Parent Review2y ago - Booker Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are flaws but that's just how it is for every school. It is clear that all of the students and teachers try in their own fields. However, I feel that the safety needs to be taken more seriously in the perspective of students toward other students. On the other hand there is not a lot more to say and it is most likely the best school to go to in Hampton, Virginia.Student Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 9 Lucas Dr.

"I know this area of Hampton and I personally would not live there. I hear of a lot of crime around this neighborhood and while it may look nice, it's not an area where you'd want to take walks in the evening or be out alone after dark. "

"I work at NASA in Hampton and stayed with friends near this house before I bought my home in Newport News. I had my car broken into and the traffic in the morning was terrible from the bus. The area is near downtown so you get a lot of foot traffic across the lawn at night. "
