Description
If you are looking for a special property in a charming New England town, welcome to TIMTTOR (This Is My Time To Relax), an 1896 Carriage House. This lovely, private .64-acre shoreline property is wonderfully situated in the heart of Niantic Village. Stroll to beaches, parks, and Just a few feet from downtown Main Street for boutique shopping, restaurants, bakeries, Book shops and breweries, or continue your stroll on the Niantic waterfront boardwalk. Pass through the gates of TIMTTOR into this enchanting property once owned by American Impressionist painter Roger Dennis. Dennis, a member of the Old Lyme art colony, was well-known for landscape paintings, and these grounds reflect that, boasting English gardens, natural outdoor living spaces, stone walls, and mature perennials. The bluestone terrace, propane fire pit table, and propane Weber grill sitting under a grand pergola, with a Jacuzzi hot tub, fieldstone outdoor shower, and gourmet kitchen with Wolf dual fuel stove and pot filler all make this home a hidden gem perfect for entertaining. Additional expansion in the attic with bedroom and plumbed bathroom. Outbuildings include an antique potting shed, a tool shed, and a detached garage with a workbench.

"Dogs on leashes. Not allowed at the beach which would be nice. No dog park, but great walking paths. "

"This is a unique neighborhood and I enjoy all of the parks and places and people and things that are available to me in my neighborhood. It really is truly home! "
- Pete H.
- Resident

"Not enough sidewalks and the cars are always speeding. Downtown is fairly dog friendly, yet I don’t understand why pets are not welcome at the farmer’s market; at least nobody enforces the rule."
- Ashley B.
- Resident

"Not enough access to public transportation. No busses, train stops, pick-up areas. Not enough sidewalks on busy main road areas. Including Chesterfield road, Lovers Lane, Roxbury through Corey Lane/Riverview, Upper Pattagansett through Ancient Highway, Bridebrook Rd. , Plants Dam, Dean Road area. Should all be accessible easily on foot. "

"I work from home and do not commute. Getting around locally is easy. Easy access to I-95, I-395 and Route Nine. Short distance to beaches, shopping. "

"People here are mostly gentle and kind. My cat went missing once and the community exploded with kind words and support. Always plenty to do between Rocky Neck, the boardwalk, and all the cozy shops and parks. Beautiful scenery at all times of year. We moved here during the winter and the cute little street lights on Main street were done up like we had stepped on the set of a Hallmark movie."

"Celebrate East Lyme/fireworks, Christmas parade, weekly farmers market, summer carnival, live music at the beach. "

"Easy access to 95 and 395 makes commuting on the shoreline and upstate really easy. Traffic can be heavy in the summer but it’s worth it to live in such a nice place. "

"Car necessary. Way up on a hill. Could never get around without a car. We love it here ( only been 10 months) but it is a little small and isolated. "

"We live in a tucked-away community that is close to Niantic but not easily within walking distance. We’re too high up on a hill and too far away from anything significant not to have a car. "

"People walk their dogs—always on leash—and I’ve never met an unfriendly dog or handler. We also have a swimming area that’s dog-friendly. It’s a good place for nice dogs and nice people."

"I grew up in this neighborhood and thenbought a house here. Most neighbors have been here since I was small. I can walk to town or to the beach"
- katrina1968
- 10y ago
"Cute little beach area. Private beaches are not huge but do the trick. The beaches are on the river not the sound. Not all pet owners are courteous with cleaning up after their pets. Making changes such as fencing or a carport are next to impossible due to zoning regulations and neighbors making a big stink. Who wants to live with that?"
- RJM857
- 11y ago
"A lovely and safe community with tennis, golf, boat slip and beaches. Peeps are screwing with this site. It's not even near the train track! Million $ homes to cottages. One way in and out-no crime at all-ever! Stone wall entrance that winds bordered with hiking trails and water views of Niantic Bay."
- mardoy

"Traffic too fast. Nowhere to park. No shops. Nothing to do here. No public transportation. No restaurants or eateries. Too many funky, broken-down houses."
