4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child gets bullied and sexually harassed every day by other students. The staff members do nothing to help bullying and kids mental health. Students are bypassing the metal detectors bringing weapons and harming other students. the inside of the school is poorly managed, with moldy bathrooms, and broken equipment. Do not send your kid here.Parent Review3mo ago - Crossroads School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrom a graduating senior, Norview high is a school that can give students many different experiences based on their choices. there are many different routes that can be taken through Norview. How well a student does at the school is mostly based on them and their own decisions. Teachers and counselors can't be fully blamed for the sub-par student performance in the school, as a noticeable part of the student population lacks self-motivation/initiative. There are many opportunities for advanced courses such as Honors or AP classes available to all students, not just those in the specialty program. To parents nervous about their child attending this school in the future, they'll be fine if they use good judgment, stick to their work, and hang with the right people. In my opinion, the school can do a good job preparing students for college or a vocation, as long as the student has the initiative to put themselves into the necessary classes or programs to ensure they have a stable future beyond high school. In terms of the school's safety, it can get a little rough sometimes with the constant fights, but in my opinion, they're just a part of growing up I guess, avoid them and dont think too much of them.Overall, I think Norview High can be made a good school by a focused, driven student, or made a bad school by an unfocused student just drifting along in the river of life. To concerned parents, your child will be fine, as long as you ensure they are completing their necessary coursework and not lingering in the hallways.Student Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 8205 Carlton St.

"I have lived here for 15 years, and there is a great mix of original older residents, young families with kids, and everything in between. Most people have dogs too, so very dog friendly, and quiet , peaceful area to live in. Close to Oceanview Beach, Virginia Beach just a little further, the interstate, and HRBT and Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnels. I love it here, and having neighbors who help each other and watch out for each other's well being. "

"This neighborhood is big on holidays especially St Patrick's Day and Halloween. They do celebrate all with decorating. "

"What so many people don't realize is that this area is only a mile away from the community beach! Also, there's an amazing golf course nearby. The neighbors are amazing and super friendly and generational...they will tell you ANYTHING about the neighborhood because they are likely living in the house that their grandparents owned. Pretty special place."

"Lived here for 11 years. Great mix of young families and older original residents, and great neighborhood for kids and dogs. I also love all the wooded lots which doesn't happen often in newer construction. Close to interstate, HRBT, and Norfolk Navy bases. Easy to get around to any city as well."

"I feel very fortunate to have discovered the gem of Bayview/Forest Park neighborhood in the 23518 area of Norfolk. Being a military family, it was important for us to be close to the Norfolk Base for his commute to work (a short 10 minute drive). At the same time, as a teacher for Norfolk Public schools, I have an intimate understanding of the school district and recognize that many schools in Norfolk leave something to be desired. Fortunately, the schools in this neighborhood, particularly Bayview and Crossroads are some of the best elementary schools in the entire district. I had no problem whatsoever sending my children to Bayview Elementary- and I do not say that lightly. The test scores reflect a high standard of learning and after living in this area, it is evident that the locals value education for their children as well. After living here for 4 years, I have absolutely fallen in love with this pocket of Norfolk. It is an established neighborhood with little transience. People tend to stay here and every last one of my neighbors is absolutely wonderful. I felt very safe and secure walking my dogs day and night. My house sat untouched and under the watchful eyes of my neighbors for extended periods of time when we were out of town. Every visitor we have comments on how quiet the neighborhood is. I truly cannot say enough about this location, it is convenient to shopping and the interstate as well as the Navy base. It's also just a couple minute drive to the bay. What fun we have taking the kids and the dogs to the beach! We love it so much here that we have decided to keep the house even when we are relocated to another base- in hopes that we will again be stationed in Norfolk and have the opportunity to live here again. Ask any of the old timers that live around here and they will tell you what they told me before we purchased our home, "This neighborhood is the best kept secret in all of Norfolk!" How true that is!"
