6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe entire school district needs an overhaul, however the high school is the worst. The staff turn around is high except for the ones that should leave. They do not know how to handle general situations and when a challenging situation arises they make absolutely no effort to do the right thing. They look out for their own interests, especially when wrong and when confronted they ignore and put a gag on other staff to not speak with you. Not a good or healthy environment when it should be about the students and their health and safety and it's more about protecting themselves at any cost including trying to convince another child to go along with a lie just to support what actions they took regardless of how wrong they were. This leaving that child to not trust anyone at the school as they shouldn't.Parent Review1y ago - Hawthorne Brook Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is not the best in the teaching department. Yes, I know we are supposed to learn as students and grow with the teachers, but if a teacher can't even consider what a student has to say about their teaching, if it's informational and observably correct. And I do wish to respect their teaching, but if they are teaching curriculum that is blatantly incorrect and will not listen to what the student has to say, even if the student is simply right on the ground level, it's not a good look for the school if the student writes reviews and describes the experience of being here. And I do want to say it's a good school because it's well placed compared to other common places a middle schooler might go. And I would love to ask the staff if I could go to the special classes because I feel I would get better treatment there than in the regular classroom, but if I feel nervous and like it's rude to ask, I don't know if that resembles how anyone should feel about the staff. And I do genuinely love most of the staff, like guidance and specials. How we are a "community" doesn't feel very appropriate for school; the only defining feature making us a "community" is that we all go to the same school. Some of the announcements now are very confusing and hard to hear. And as I have 1148 characters left, shall we talk about the bathrooms? Yes, we shall. First of all, it's 2023, and having only 2 gender-neutral bathrooms isn't very accepting. Personally, I think all bathrooms should be gender-neutral, and the school could add more restrooms and normalize the saying of "wash closet" instead of restroom.Okay, anything else to talk about? Oh yeah, the yards we can't walk on. I know we can't walk on some of the grass because it would ruin it, but there's no reason to really stop us. There's nothing there. Maybe the school could have garden boxes there for a garden club, or is that canceled because no one has talked about clubs at all? I would love to start a geography club, but no one talks about clubs, so I assume that they're canceled. And the biggest mistake is having Mr. Webster leave. #YouWillBeMissedMrWebster. Anyways, let's talk about how they have crusty chairs in the auditorium instead of something like a sofa or built-in seats. This is getting long, and I am lazy, and there is really not much more wrong except for having cement bricks as walls. Like maybe outside, but inside is just weird. Did people paint on it like a mural or what? Cause I am confused.Student Review7mo ago - Squannacook Early Childhood Center

"Quiet near farmland and state forest. Good neighbors and not too much traffic. Decent sized pieces of land."

"Townsend is a pretty New England town west of Boston. It is noted for it's quiet, friendly people, good schools, and easy access to nearby shopping in either Leominster or Southern NH. The Squannicook River runs cool and clear and offers excellent fishing! Townsend's open space is protected by State forests and Townsend Conservation Land Trust lands and offers excellent hiking trails. Plans are in the works for a new regional high school to replace the existing North Middlesex Regional HS which also services Ashby and Pepperell. Less than 20 minutes to MBTA commuter station in Fitchburg. Townsend's new library and senior center are fantastic and conveniently located near the Town center. In the summer the Townsend Military band plays on the commons every Thursday evening. "
