7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm a student who just graduated from this elementary in 2023. Glad to say, I somewhat left this school with a tear of happiness on my face. I was really touched with the ohana and community here, and am willing to come back again! I graduated from this school with decent grades, meaning I was taught WELL and proficiently. The changing of principals towards the end of my elementary years was difficult for the whole school community but turns out, that the new principal made a huge difference. I definitely recommend this school to your children. The staff here are wonderful, showing a true demonstration and example of what a good school Kahakai Elementary is. Although this school isn't 5/5 on their family engagement, Kahakai will TRY to include families into their children's learning. Teachers often pass out newspapers including ways to help teach your child and support them in their path of learning, but teachers aren't really "caring" if the student will give the newspaper to their parents. Staff just expect and assume students will make their parents learn with them, which is really sad. That's all I'm going to say about this school. There is a wonderful chorus and ukulele class, wood working, free after school programs, offering cooking, gardening, hip hop, and theater, just to name a few. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended this school a while back and have to say that my high school years were my best years. School spirit is awesome and my teachers were great. I mostly had honors classes and my teachers definitely challenged us. I know some other teachers aren't as informative as others, but you have to take into consideration that some students aren't really there to learn. Although I did well in school, it wasn't as vigorous as it could of been. I know there are some ppl including myself who think kealakehe didn't prepare us fully for college.
