3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI firmly believe that all children have the capacity to learn and grow academically, and all children have the right to a high quality education that is immersed in rigorous practices and reaches the levels of exponential excellence. This sentence is the foundation of my philosophy and is the catalyst for why I wanted to be in education. In an ever changing World, it is our duty to make sure that our children have the necessary skills, tools and knowledge they need in order to be vibrant, productive citizens of tomorrow. Through a level of rigor that will not only challenge our children academically, but also stimulate them to think outside of the box can we as Melwood educators guarantee that our children will be ready for the challenges to come. As principal, it is my passion to build, model and empower educators so that they can un-tap the secrets deep within our scholar’s minds. As Melwood’s instructional leader I am accountable to my scholars, practitioners and you for developing, articulating, and implementing a vision of learning that is shared by all. I promise to provide instructional leadership through transparency and by monitoring and aligning curriculum and instruction through the purposeful alignment to PGCPS’ ‘Promise of 2020’. I will ensure that our positive culture for learning continues to spread through the school house and community, and in doing so will provide all our scholars with the highest level of instruction, leading them to reach their goals of academic excellence.I ask for your support and active voice as we work together to better serve your children, our scholars. I promise you that every decision made at Melwood is done in the best interests of our scholars.A. DaltonPrincipal - Melwood Elementary SchoolPrincipal Review6y ago - James Madison Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you don't want your child to be bullied if you want a teacher to listen to you and your concerns about your kids safety do not send them to James Madison Middle School in Upper Marlboro Maryland possible is horrible they lie and hide thing nurse is horrible security horrible please as a parent do not send your kids to the school it's in your School boundary do not send them there get a special transfer I had five kids go to this school horrible experienceParent Review1y ago - Dr. Henry A. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe new Administrators need to be replaced with very good experienced and customer oriented staff. You supposed lead by example, so it not surprising how rude the school personnel are because the Principal, Assistant Principals, Security Sargent and staff. They were supposed be engaging with the parents (only if you agree with them) and students. If you don’t agree with them then they don’t help the parents or students. If you don’t help make their job easy by agreeing with them you get no help and they strategically do everything in their power even use students to go after other students to create a false narrative to have the student forced out of the school. I know this review is falling on deaf ears because but it need to stated and hopefully something will be done for the better. Every child not perfect but before you condemn a student really understand a student perspective. The school is run like a clique, if you not apart of their sorority or fraternity then you will not be helped by the Principal and Assistant Principals and staffs. This school need better caring, respectable, student and parent engaging leaders not who is who, and being bullied by the people who supposed to manage school and take of the students.Parent Review11mo ago - Check out schools near 7207 Robin Hood Dr.

"There are dogs in the neighborhood but you hardly ever see them. Before I saw a few huge dogs on the loose at night, they seemed very vicious-the kind that are angry for no reason and wouldn’t wanted smaller dogs around. I just tend to avoid that area now"

"The area is fantastic for those that want a great neighborhood that is very family oriented, clean, safe, and quiet. Most of us live here because of the semi-seclusion and the sense of country/rural while being a few minutes from 495 and 301. Not a great place to live if you don't have transportation or if you are looking for a heavy night life. I am so pleased that I moved here and all of my neighbors are home owners and take pride in their property and in our neighborhood. We are friendly and we look out for each other...great area. "

"This cul-de-sac used to have a lot of children. All are grown now and there is very little home turnover. Most neighbors have been here for years. "
