6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMarlboro Central High School is drastically undervalued in these ratings. The High School now boasts the latest technology in its first rate planetarium, a feature few schools even offer. The observatory is upgraded with more to do but an added plus when it comes to student opportunity. The High School has an aquatic center and the elementary, intermediate and middle schools are also brought in for water safety training. Drowning deaths are mitigated with proper instruction. A recent energy performance contract will elevate the district to the first in the region to move to solar power! The athletic and training facilities are new and first rate (except perhaps for a smaller, dated albeit classic gymnasium). Security is achieved with bullet resistant entrance ways, an in house police SRO officer and soon to be acquired riot shields that will enable our trained officer to charge and confront an active shooter should the need arise. This is not the Marlboro High School of the past. Incoming Superintendent Michael Rydell has just begun sweeping enhancements in how program is delivered by visiting the best schools and emulating their success. There is a "Literacy Committee" charged specifically with improving Marlboro's already regional best reading comprehension and test scores.Marlboro is an older farming community that is changing and becoming more integrated. The focus here continues to be on what unites us as a people and not what makes us different. Students from varied walks of life are welcomed, encouraged and pushed to be their best and while Marlboro is not perfect, every component from the Board of Education, Administration, Teachers and Staff are dedicated to the success of its students. The Great Schools rating is woefully under what the Marlboro Central High School's objectives and achievements.Parent Review1y ago - Marlboro Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDuring the 2022-2023 school year the Marlboro Middle School has been named an "Essential Elements School to Watch" and will receive it's award in Washington DC at the end of the school year. The building has been radically improved with a new track on the lower field, brand new music, arts and tech rooms, social and emotional rooms and even a "calming" room. The incredible administration and staff have been unfairly criticized in some of these reviews but their methods have paid off. Student scores are not accurately represented by "Great Schools," and may perhaps be very well outdated. The community was an old farming community that is transitioning and becoming more diverse. The varied cultures are welcomed into the inviting learning environment and encouraged to be at their best. A building and community that has transformed from the "Flintstones" to the "Jetsons" undoubtedly encounters some growing pain but the team of educators and incoming superintendent place this building squarely among the nation's top 350 middle schools. District wide there is a movement toward energy independence, greater learning opportunities through the creative modes of education delivery experienced throughout the covid period and an unrelenting effort by Principal Debra Clinton to create a measurable turning point for students to supercharge their desire to learn. This sins of the past, and they do exist, should not preclude the Marlboro Middle School from being recognized as a top ranked institution of learning. Apparently, nationally anyway, they already are.Parent Review1y ago - Marlboro Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is excellent in terms of its teachers, which are excellent. My daughter loves her teacher. Mr. Corsetti, the Assistant Principal, is also great with parents. I had the need to contact him several times since school started this year. He is very professional, but he is also very friendly and approachable. The only reason I don't give this school a five star rating is this Common Core curriculum. If the school doesn't comply with it, they lose their funding. I do believe, however, that our School Board and our Superintendent of Schools could have fought harder for our children and found a way around Common Core. I've spoken with quite a few parents and the sentiment is the same. Great school and staff - horrible curriculum. Thanks NY State - another botched endeavor!!!Parent Review10y ago - Check out schools near 716 Milton Tpke.

"It’s a small quiet town. But with amazing locations nearby. Mountains nearby for fun hikes and more, college town next door if you want to eat at various types of restaurants, then on the other side you can go over the bridge to the suburbs with a mall."

"We moved to Highland as we needed a centralized location for our service business. We are less than 15 minutes to major highways, we can hop on a train to NYC in 10 minutes as well as 2 major hospitals. Major shopping is accessible both in Kingston (20 minutes North) or in Poughkeepsie (10 minutes). Thruway takes you to Paramus and Woodbury in 1 hr. If you are into Hiking and more natural items, New Paltz has tons of activities as well as Northern Ulster. HOWEVER, best of all is now the Walkway, Rail Trail which goes to Hopewell, and Franny Reese park for great walking and hiking along river. History buffs have West Point and all the mansions from the rich of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Nightlife around Highland is very diverse as Poughkeepsie and New Paltz are 10 minutes each way. The beauty of Highand, which is what we love most, is it is a small family oriented town. We can go to Poughkeepsie and wherever, but at the end of the day, we get home to a quiet home to relax. The schools are wonderful, the teachers are hands on, and the community activities for families are never ending. As a local business owner, I can also say businesses are revitalizing, and you will find more Mom & Pop businesses than chain stores in our town (it's nice to walk into a deli and they know you by name!). Hope this helps - A very happy Highland resident. Moving close to the Hamlet offers you quite a bit! However, the mix of homes and residential neighborhoods caters to almost every desire. Best of all, in the fall, drive through the town and you smell the Apples! What more can you ask for! "
