8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageStafford High School was quite a strange experience for me. I had a few excellent teachers, and I had far more difficult, unhelpful, and/or discriminatory teachers. Regardless of my personal experiences, I did manage to learn a lot at SHS in terms of skills and knowledge. However, for every positive experience I had at this school, I had two or three negative.By far the issue that stands out as needing to be addressed the most to me is Stafford High School's lack of attention to helping individual students, like myself (I have ADHD), with finding ways to learn. What I mean by that is helping students find a way to learn that works for them. They should be focusing less on whether a student gets every assignment finished and handed in, and more on the overall assessment of the students (such as grades on tests and quizzes). My opinion is biased, so I cannot tell others to agree with me, however, I believe that with a student to teacher ratio of 12:1, Stafford High School has the full ability to spend more time on helping individual students find ways to adapt. This is especially true in my case since I have a learning disability. My last negative comment is that, in the end, I did not feel "safe" at this school. I felt that many teachers were not willing to help me once they lost the slightest bit of faith in my ability, which happened quite fast. I was also personally called out by staff in front of my peers on numerous occasions. Worst of all, due to the transfer of my middle school vice principal becoming my high school principal, I was under scrutiny due to a previous experience at SMS (My parents had to call Washington D.C. and threaten the school countless times to recognize ADHD as a learning disability). On a positive note, the school had very few cliques and good security. The students were generally respectful and considerate of each other. There was almost no bullying, and that allowed for quite a comfortable experience when working with other students. There were also a handful of exceptionally wonderful staff members including teachers in the Math and English departments.Overall, I would say that, I learned a lot at this school and felt secure in my personal knowledge and skill when leaving. Though, I left feeling abandoned by the very individuals whose job it was to ensure that I was comfortable and knowledgeable.Other Review5y ago - West Stafford School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter completed her foundational 2 yrs at this place k and 1st grade. I must say this is one of the best schools I have seen around in the county or other counties where my friends kids go to. The teachers, principal and support staff are soo pleasing, educated and love the kids. The concept of education is so very well inculcated to kids that my kid love going to school. Imagine a 6 yr old kid stating I am missing my school and teachers on days off how good the school must be. My kid has strong academics and a great reader now. Very happy and many thanks to the faculty.Parent Review6y ago - Stafford Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI regret moving to Stafford and having my children in this school system. Look at the test scores compared to other towns. Going back in time I would of never had my children in this school system.Parent Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 68 Furnace Ave #A.

"I have lived in this town for 30+ years and in this particular neighborhood for seven. This a small semi-rural town with a lovely Main Street, friendly people and a convenient location. Wildlife abounds and there are many trails for hiking and lakes for recreation."
