My son was enrolled in their preschool program last year and my daughter currently attends their SRLDP program. My nephews and nieces have also graduated from this school and now attend a Magnet High School. I have nothing but praise for this school. The principal and dedicated staff have turned the school into one of LAUSD's best schools in South Los Angeles. Through hard work and the belief that all children can succeed, they have become a model for other schools to follow. My kids passed their History and Calculus AP exams, and they both received academic scholarships to help them pay for college. My kids enrolled in four year universities CSLA, UCLA. They are both pursuing a bachelors degree. They also were part of extra curriculum activities from SRLA, and avid program. They received Letterman jackets from the school. They had a wonderful experience. I also graduated from Jefferson and am very proud. 2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI taught here and the environment inside and outside of school made me feel as though I didn't know how to do my job. Who's to blame? Give teachers the option to transfer to a school that doesn't stress you out as much as Maya, for the same pay, and you'll see why there's a revolving door / high turnover rate. Especially since teacher income is based on student performance. Teachers at the school will be effective if their students were starting the education race from the same starting line as those schools in better areas. "Ive lived in this neighborhood for about 11 years and it is a fairly good neighborhood that is near downtown , and transportation. There is however a bit of homeless , and graffiti . There also is sometimes robbery but this neighborhood is fairly good and its fun ! "
