7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDuring the three years I've attended Wilmington Middle School, I have never been more miserable. There is an outrageous amount of favoritism and the only way to get anywhere is to be super athletic. Even then, you think your child is a good athlete? Not if they don't have a certain last name. You better be related to someone working in the school district, otherwise you're screwed. Say one thing to a teacher's daughter or neice and their friends, you'll have a detention. If they say something to you nothing will be done. They say the school has a 0% bullying tollerance, but they get to pick and choose when they actually want to enforce it. I would like to add a positive to this review, but it seems there are none. The food is terrible. Academic achievements are under recognized and unutallized. After school events such as clubs are no exception from favoritism, either. Not to mention the lack of diversity in them. You can get into literally anything by saying you couldn't do it last year due to a sport. If you were looking to send your child into a situation where their teachers will humiliate them and render their feelings and emotions useless, Wilmington is the place for you. If you have common sense and want your child to feel safe, you should really check neighboring cities. Most are big, beautiful and very well taken care of unlike those of Wilmington.Student Review8y ago - Wilmington High School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe only improvement i can see that the school needs is a swimming pool. The children would benefit greatly i believe, swimming helps burn fat, it would be beneficial to their health!Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 621 W Baltimore St.

"i have lived here for 11yrs and seen so much drugs and alcoholism in this town. the theft rate is so high, the herion use is one of the highest in all the local towns. the schools are the worst for learning or sports. just look around and you can see for your self, ask local people from coalcity they will tell you the same. theres a bar on every corner in town, do you want your kids to grow up in that. look at the locals they are filthy 60% of the people here dont work they sell drugs or on welfare. I wont be here very much longer iam moving in the next 6 months out of this town. people do your research. i tell everybody i come intact with about this town as much as i can. good luck."

"Wilmington is a friendly area, focused on creating a safe and family friendly environment for everyone. The schools focus on improvement every year, the sports programs are second to none, and they have Catholic and protestant schools to choose from too. One hour from the city, and 2 minutes from one of the most beautiful parks in all of Northern Illinois. Great place to call home!"
