9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to Soleado as the second school when I moved to Palos Verdes. It was difficult for me to make friends for a while, but the yard supervisors and teachers are always kind. I will admit that I had witnessed some bullying in the time that I went there, but as far as I could tell, it was stopped quickly. I have good lasting relationships with most of my teachers, and I have a younger sister currently attending. I have little experience with the social-emotional support as I always refused to accept it myself, but they do help kids who have learning disorders, speaking disorders, and are learning English as a second language. Personally all through first grade and a little bit of second grade, I attended a speech class for a small speaking error I had in which I had difficulty pronouncing the 's' and 'sh' sound. Overall, I made many great friends and had plenty of positive experiences there.Other Review10mo ago - Ridgecrest Intermediate School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is terrible. Do NOT send your child here. My daughter is 16 now and still talks about the most horrible year of her life at this school. She was bullied, physically assaulted, the “counselors/therapist” would talk about what they discussed with students in front of other students. They accused her of self harm (I personally checked her and found nothing) and told HER they were going to report us to CPS. They never said any of this to us. They pulled her into the office because her grades were low and told her that they needed to do something about her grades because she was bringing the schools scores down. Which worked to our advantage because she was put on an IEP. But you don’t tell a child “you’re bringing our scores down”. I went to the school several times about issues and they were swept under the rug. On paper this school looks great but it’s because they don’t take into account personal experiences. Put your kid in private school or go down to Redondo. I’m happy to report that my daughter is doing well (luckily we moved back to Northern California) but still has ptsd due to her time at this school.Parent Review10mo ago - Palos Verdes Peninsula High School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe academics are quite good. The athletics are a completely different story Be prepared to be "asked" to play for the coaches club enterprise or get comfortable with a seat on the bench. No meritocracy here.I've witnessed this with not only with my kids but with other kids as well.Pay to be on their club of perhaps some private instruction ( payed for of course) and you get a good amount of playing time deserved or not.You wonder why the administration allows this but it's been going on for years. Pay to play!!!Parent Review9mo ago - Palos Verdes High School
