4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm going to tackle this as nicely as I can, but there isn't a lot of nice things to say. I am a current student at GMHS, class of 2026.. and I absolutely hate this school! I'm never excited to learn, because papers, google classroom assignments, random projects, and so much more are all shoved down my throat with no second thought! I am falling behind with my academics and I'm scared I won't graduate, but that doesn't matter to the staff team. Good luck trying to talk to the counselors, because you can't unless you book an appointment. And every single time I have went to book one, it's always over a week ahead. I tried booking one earlier this week (12/4/23) regarding my academics, and there's no openings until this upcoming Tuesday (12/12/23). And midterms are on the 12th and 13th, then after that it's the end of the grading period! Because of this school, I feel like my life is over. I feel as if I can't achieve what I want to in life. The staff are not encouraging me to push towards my dream of art, they just want me to sit down, shut up, and do their realistic 3d model cell project that's due in two days. (Yes, this actually happened.) Regarding the students, I have met some really nice people; But the majority is absolutely awful. There are fights almost every day, and if not every day, it's at LEAST once a week. They put Evolv weapons detectors in this year, and they're awful as well. They slow down the process of actually getting inside, and all the other students are pressed up against each other trying to get inside and away from the cold. Literally NO ONE likes them, NOT EVEN MOST OF THE STAFF! I hope they remove those buggy machines!Student Review4mo ago - Madison Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis School has has been on a decline since we first enrolled. They went from an ok to a disappointment. Seemed like my child with an IEP got worse being at this school. I have noticed they lie and overly exaggerate situations. They will point the finger at your child without any accountability.Parent Review2y ago - Groveport Madison Middle School North

"Amberly Square doesn't have any public transportation that's accessible without a 10 to 15 minute walk. And maybe even longer if you have younger children. Personal transportation is a must have living out here. "

"the area has its ups and downs but overall our experience here over the last 5 years has been mostly positive. there seems to be a bit of a revitalization recently as a lot of homes have changed ownership but it largely depends on the street you live on. the schools leave a lot to be desired but it isn't because of the teachers; in my experience, with 3 school-age children and surprisingly normal pto mom (as opposed to the rabid ones) at 2 different schools has been that the district itself is failing from the top down, not the bottom up. i am hopeful that the new superintendent will be able to make the changes needed for the schools to thrive but we've run out of time to play the waiting game. the looking potential of a teacher strike and the districts acceptance of hiring less than qualified replacements for the interim period, combined with the possibility of the state taking over the district after this year made it easy for our family to choose between staying and going when an out of state promotion was offered. the community is really amazing, but there is a real disconnect between generations, long-term residents, the flood of young professionals gentrifying neighborhoods that are still trying to heal from trauma, and many other important dynamics. if we had another 5 years to wait for the area to keep progressing, we would consider staying but the opportunity to move somewhere that has already lowered its crime with properly funded schools is too big of a draw when the immediate future here looks so uncertain.
