"We just moved here and love the proximity to shops and down town Port Jefferson. Our neighbors are very friendly. We also enjoy the local restaurants. we cut our commute to work, in half. This town definitely has the best of everything!"

"it's a good area, near the LIRR, and a straight shot to the LIRR/496, and the NSP. one thing of note the area by the train station and bowling alley attracts the homeless especially at night. Have had in the past packages stolen as well as a motorcycle (2016).. however nothing recently "

"high crime and poverty rate. a lot of homeless people, and a homeless shelter right by the train station does not help the situation, couple that with the fact that the running train is used by drug addicts at night. this is not an area I recommend, unless you have good hone security, I even had a motorcycle stolen from he here."

"down port is amazing ... try prohibition kitchen great food great schools . beaches close ....live here 20 years no issues .... kids grew up here ..... terryville carnival is always a treat for the kids .... the dickens festival is another good one ....great restaurants all close by....cafe amici in selden is the best around. "

"I have 3 dogs and I don’t socialize them because we almost were attacked by a loose Rottweiler while owner was in the garage. Luckily people saw the dog charging at my dog as I swung him away from harm (he was a puppy then) Actually got in to it with my neighbor as if it was my fault. Minding my own business in front of my own home. He did later apologize. Since then, it all about the back yard."

"Dogs are always welcomed on a leash, however, it would be nice if people would stay on their own block. I have dogs and they bark like crazy because everyone comes down here, and because it’s quiet and pretty. That’s why they have dog parks!"

"This area is extremely convenient. Every type of store imaginable is located nearby. There are 3 hospitals within a 5 mile radius, and any kind of medical specialist that you would need.I live in the northwest corner of PJS and I feel quite safe here. It is very quiet.. "
