7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has gotten so bad over the years. I honestly wish my kids didn't have to attend, but unfortunately, given the district we live in, this is the middle school they need to attend. This school is horrible when it comes to your kids getting bullied or harassed. The administration dance around the issues, and until you make some kind of threat, they don't care to resolve anything. Get the BOE copied in emails, or make a threat to go to the school and all of a sudden things get taken care of momentarily. Students are allowed to call your kid derogatory names, harass your kid, throw things at your kid, etc. and they barely bat an eye. But your kid does something back finally after taking it for so long, and all of a sudden they want to discipline your kid. This school is such a joke. They don't follow their own policies, but expect the students to.Parent Review4mo ago - Hollywood Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to the area this year and my daughter was only in the school for one year the academics considerably behind. She was often relearned things she had learned last year. We also dealt with bullying. Students calling her fat and even one incident where a student told her that she should kill herself for being Jewish. When my husband and I went to the school we were met with resistance by the principal and vice president because the student had been in there since kindergarten and not been in trouble. The incident was brushed off. They stated until they could prove what she said happened truly happened nothing could be done. Even after the student admitted to saying these things there was no punishment for the student who told her she should kill herself. I hope no child ever has to hear these horrible things at such a tender age. I am very dissatisfied with the way this was dealt with.Parent Review1y ago - Leonardtown High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you are in the top 5% of your class they actually teach your children and encourage them to come to school, if you are an average student or are not taking a varsity sport to a regional championship you can come, but they really don't want you there. I have my third student at Leonardtown High School and their experience has been very different from my first two students. The first two were average students, with excellent behavior, who were never shown any encouragement or care the entire time they were there. My third student is continuously encouraged to do everything and is fully supported by the school, but this child excels academically and athletically. I knew the disparity existed, but until I was able to fully actualize the difference in treatment I did not realize how much my first two students missed out on and just how marginalized they were. The school is a pressure cooker and the only thing worse than how the students treat one another is how the staff treats the kids who are not out there making the school shine at the state level. The coaches can treat players that are not D1 bound horribly and are 100% backed up by an athletic director that only cares about the facilities and barely interacts with the athletes. The drug culture is in full effect but they pretend it doesn't exist. We just got an email last week alerting us to the fact that there have been way too many fights and acts of violence this year. In addition, the water at the school is currently contaminated with e-coli and no one can wash their hands or drink the water. So how they have a 9/10 rating is beyond me.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 44765 Smiths Nursery Rd.
