9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended OHS from 1998-2002. As an alum of Open High School, I can proudly say that I grew into a lifelong learner and thinker because of the independence and quality of education provided by the teachers and staff of Open High. The small knit community and class sizes allow teachers and students to get consistent feedback as well as growth in different subject areas and personal matters. Teachers act more as mentors as they guide students through the knowledge. Self study and curiosity are encouraged and welcomed. I do not recall an emphasis on SOLs but I recall passing them all every year. Students who graduate from Open High School tend to be great additions to society. Most attend and graduate from a university with advanced degrees. The class of 2002 alumni mostly have Masters degrees and Doctoral degrees in their perspective fields. Most of us are still friends 18+ years later.Open High School is a TOP school within Richmond Public Schools.Other Review3y ago - Westover Hills Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had a wonderful experience at WHES. My child is getting ready to finish his kindergarten year and is thriving, reading beyond a first grade level. The teachers and staff are warm and welcoming and have created a nurturing environment for learning and growing. In addition, the after school enrichment options are endless with clubs ranging from cooking and lego robotics to outdoor arts and tennis. We couldn't be happier with this his school and look forward to seeing what the next school year brings!Parent Review11mo ago - Lucille M. Brown Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think most of the teachers at the school or nice and genuinely care about the students education. They don’t seem to take bullying as serious as they should. My daughter has had problems with students since day one. The students there are very disrespectful and like to start trouble. As far as education, of course, it depends on the student. However, scores, don’t lie.Parent Review11mo ago - Richmond Community High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs parents, this is the best decision that we could have made. We came from a private school in the first 9 years to move into the public school system where in Richmond is not highly regarded. But this school is the crown jewel of RPS. The quality of the teachers, counselors, students and administrators has been nothing less than spectacular. The challenge given by the teachers and administrators to the students could be overwhelming at first, but the way that the challenge is nurtured leads to a complete graduate that is ready for college. Students that come back to RCHS after a year or two of college credit the years spent here as the building blocks of seamless transmission to higher education. It is really a hidden gem in RPS.Parent Review6y ago - George Wythe High School

"We've lived here for 14 years. One of the best neighborhoods in Richmond. Walking distance to Richmond's best weekend farmers market. Walking distance to restaurants, library, drug store. New brewery coming soon. Great neighbors."

"I've lived here 27 years. Very low crime area. Very walkable. Great neighbors, active neighborhood association, safe to walk at night. Forest Hill Park is wonderful with events, tennis courts, South of the James Farmer's Market."

"Just moved into the area with my fiance and we couldnt be happier. Neighborhoods are quiet and peaceful and neighbors are friendly and outgoing. Forrest Hill park is a major destination along with James river park access. Only drawback for us is it can be a little lacking on the food and shopping side. But being just a 5 minute drive from both the fan and downtown its not that big of a deal. Love living in the Westover/Forrest Hill area!"
