Love the river and the downtown shopping area. We also have a carousel that the kids love to ride. The train depot offers tickets north and south to visit Seattle to Los Angeles .     "Albany has a lot of parks, some great schools and a fantastic library. There are many things for families to do outdoors and plenty of kid friendly places to go within an hour of Albany. The beach is just over an hour West of us. As with most of the PNW homelessness is a problem and it's more noticeable because this is a small town. Violent crime is low, property crime is higher and that's directly correlated to the drug problems some Albany residents face. This is a great place for involved parents to raise their kids. Just like everywhere else, as long as you're aware of everything your kids are doing, and who their friends are, and there's open communication, this is a wonderful place to put down roots."
