6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child attended Bella Vista since he was in TK. All his teachers have been phenomenal. My child was challenged to go above and beyond. High expectations were set for him. This school has a functioning Student Council where students are active in leadership and have a voice in what events occur. My son was a part of this committee and had opportunities to present to other classes. The PTA is very active and academic achievement is recognized in the lower grades for learning their letters, sounds, rainbow words, and math facts. I would like to see student achievement highlighted more in the upper grades to spur them on to achieve in middle school. The school had a serious drug problem, the campus was poorly maintained, it had limited extracurricular activities and they were often underfunded and only available to 7th and 8th graders. This school has lots of benefits and also the teachers help you a lot. "Semi retired but equally close to area freeways. near 60, 10, 5, 101, 710 and only 7 miles to 605. No problem getting to freeway headed to any major are, usually accesable in 5-15 minutes. "

"Peaceful and respectful neighbors. Easy access to shopping by foot or automobile. On weekends, some gatherings are a bit noisy well into the evening, but closing windows takes care of it. Mostly condos between Graves and Garvey east of Garfield. About 5-8 minutes to either 10 or 60 fwy. From there its typical Los Angeles traffic. "

"Many events at the parks during holidays also have Chinese New Year events as well. There are Christmas performances, cinco de mayo events, Easter events at the churches, independence days events with music and dances, it’s a great neighborhood"

"MPK offers the southern terminus of the Gold Line, which goes from Monterey Park/East LA to Citrus College in Glendora, by way of Mariachi Plaza, Little Tokyo, Union Station, South Pasadena, and more!! We also have a fast local city bus called The Spirit, as well as regular Metro bus service. MPK also offers easy & quick access to many freeways: 5, 10, 110, 710, 60!!! "It's a very quiet neighborhood. If you have dogs you may get some complaints if your dog barks loud late in the evenings or early mornings. Other than that it's a great place for pets. There's a park/school down the street. Lots of room for a dog to run and find new places to mark their territory."
