8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would caution any parent considering sending their children to this school. I was a wholehearted champion of this school but have become completely disheartened recently. At best, this is an average or below average school in the district. In the past two years, the class sizes have gotten larger, putting more pressure on teachers for "rigor" and fewer resources and aides in the classroom. My child has absolutely suffered as a result of this approach. Above average students are ignored in the classroom and subsequently can fall behind as teachers have to focus on the students already struggling. As a parent, it takes full time effort and involvement to stay on top of what they're studying and working on to notice where and when this is happening, i.e. logging into the child's Chromebook and checking their online work, watching when they do the work to make sure they actually understand the concepts, etc. Teachers do not have time to do this with classrooms packed well beyond what is an optimal number in order to lower costs. They've also removed a great deal of the opportunities for parents to come in and observe and participate in classroom learning (and the fun activities) unlike neighboring FKE which involves parents in their "learn at every turn" campaign.Parent Review1y ago - Nathaniel Scribner Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDuring Lunch, they make us wait for so long! Originally, we are supposed to have 30 minutes to eat right? Well, that's not how it is. By the time they dismiss us to get our food, half of our lunchtime has already gone by! That leaves us with 15 minutes to eat. My lunchtime is from 12:38 - 1:08. they dismiss us to get our lunch around 12:43. Maybe not always, but most of the time. The only kids who don't have to wait to eat their lunch are the ones who brought their lunch. Now that makes me want to bring my lunch, too! Now you see what that does to the school? If everyone brought their lunch, then the stocks will go down, because there are different things you can buy. (Ice-cream, cookies, chips, extra entree, etc..) Another thing I want to point out is that they took away the good food. I don't know if the food trucks don't bring it anymore, but other than that, I don't know why they got rid of the good food. Last year, every Thursday, they would have stromboli. Now this year, they took it away and added something that was already scheduled to serve on Tuesday. Bosco Sticks. some kids really like Bosco sticks. So do they add Bosco sticks to the schedule two times a week, just for that? Unacceptable. What about the kids who like Stromboli? In my opinion, Bosco sticks are just bread and cheese. (Also you can dip it in marinara sauce for more flavor) And Stromboli has bread, cheese, pepperoni, sausage, this sauce that makes it taste like heaven. (So basically a rolled-up pizza.) But what I'm saying, is I don't like how the school is picking favorites.Parent Review1y ago - New Albany Senior High School
