3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average1st I must say communication between school and parents is almost non existent, everything is done at the last minute the punishment they give to students for small infractions is astonishing. I’ve spoken to other parents who feel the same way , they’re great teachers and some who should hang it up and pick a different carrier principal included . School should be about teaching and building every day skills for the youth success in life. Instead of tearing them down, I understand kids aren’t saints but there should lead by example not engaging in arguments with kids. If there and overwhelming amount of kids then hire more stuff. school get taxes from parent and city /state . We need better leadership. I’m glad I changed school district’s kids are striving . The officer’s at this school are great.Parent Review9mo ago - John Adams #4

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere is a reason that these positive reviews are from many years ago and that there are so few. We ended up at John Adams after the boundary lines were redrawn in Scranton. We were unhappy from very early on. Many of the teachers act as if all of the families are poor and ignorant. There are no lines of communication between the school and home. The PTA is not very receptive to input. The PSSA scores are terrible, and while that may not always be a bad thing, in this case it is. The academics are subpar and the class sizes are large. The pre-school program excellent, the environment is clean. There is a character building model in place, but is poorly implemented.Parent Review9y ago - Scranton High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible. I graduated from this school with all As and Bs. When I got to college I was immediately behind. An A at this school is equivalent to a C at better schools. Just look at the test averages,. As for leadership and character building, this school is apathetic to development of its students. Fortunately I had good parenting at home that helped with this.Other Review6y ago - Check out schools near 338 Franklin Ave.

"The downtown area is very bustling. Not recommended for raising a family . Try the Hill section, it has a better atmosphere "

"Fun downtown events for the family. Events in the parks for families and kids and even pets. That’s the only good part "

"I go to school here that’s about it. It’s popular for students. It doesn’t feel all that safe, but what makes it unique is the federal building that’s right next to the county court house "
