1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrick Middle School was once the school that every Parent wanted their child to be at, Since Mr. Criddle has left the school it has really went down, down, down. That's really sad, because I feel that the students of today are not learning anything, most of them are in school only half day and some cannot come to the school at all only for testing. Mr. Criddle once had his staff on point as well as the students and the parents, it was a family school now it just feels like a building with people in it, I think that the school district such model Frick after Mr. Criddle, meet with him to find out what worked for the students, parents, staff and administration of the school so that the children can return to receiving a better education.Other Review9y ago - Laurel Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love Laurel. Stands out for its strong, stable leadership, great school culture, and emphasis on social-emotional development. Staff is very dedicated and welcoming--I haven't met a single person who works there who isn't warm and all about the kids. I get lots of updates on my student's progress. The teachers call you at the beginning of the year, post weekly updates, and have many opportunities for parent/teacher conferences. Lots of supports for students and families--whenever my kid has a substitute teacher they always remark on that. Great music/performing arts program. Every Halloween the entire student body puts on a music/dance performance--my kid was so excited to be a part of it. They really welcome family participation, I did art with them last year and now am tutoring in math. Diverse community. The kids are awesome! A fellow parent who teaches at middle school says she always likes the kids who come to her form Laurel. The people really make this place but--bonus--they also just renovated their playground. We have a new play structure, soccer field/basketball courts, nature area, garden, murals and tons of trees put in.Parent Review4mo ago - Skyline High School

"I don’t have one. I work from home. When I did commute it was an easy 9 mile commute on 580. It’s low traffic because during daytime hours they do not allow semis. "

"Safe place to walk your dogs, but not a lot of stop signs for safe crossing. Some neighbors have dogs that bark a lot when others are walking by, but overall a great place to walk your dog. "

"Always perfect weather, and beautiful sunset views of either bay or the hills from most all of the homes. And yes it is walkable to restaurants on MacArthur, and more things are popping up on High street. "

"This is a beautiful, clean, green community with surprisingly tranquil and peaceful atmosphere. People are very nice and the community has a very nice sense of care, with a lot of smiles and greetings yet privacy respected. There are not many commercials nearby or within the area but it is the very reason why this mild hilly community is so exclusively special. Shops, parks, entertainments, business, city center are all in proximity. This neighborhood is a hidden gem of Oakland and I love it!"

"This area might not be for everyone, but it's fairly quite, neighbors are nice and I have had no problem in the year and a half since I bought my house in this neighborhood. I'm a single female, I feel totally safe and love the amount of house and yard space I got by buying here in Maxwell Park/Fairfax. Cute neighborhood. "
