If you do look at charter schools, I would suggest you visit them to understand their environments which are very different in structure and diversity. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOutside of the IB programme, the classes are subpar at best. Students spend the majority of time sitting around on their phones or napping and not doing any work. Admin appears to support teachers but when it comes down to it, nothing changes. Students that need special services are often overlooked with so many coming from MS with IEPS but not having the same accommodations made here, or they are not being re-evaluated. Often, when asking about a student's needs being met and the possibility of them getting tested we are told that they are not attending consistently so it's pointless. There are WAY too many ways for people to go in and out of the buildings, and during class changes there are no adults monitoring doors. The school does not appear to value the teachers, or subs. Subs are routinely pulled from their assigned duty to take on a different class, which results in the school struggling to get subs at all. Teachers will rarely listen to or try to understand a student's point of view. The administration will ignore many student concerns without any investigation unless parents interfere. Many of the work handed is just busy work and rarely has an impact on student learning. There are some helpful teachers but there are even more cruel teachers. It's incredibly hard to fix grades that a student didn't deserve without parental interference. This school is a college prep school so there is not an emphasis in the Arts, but more a focus on core curriculum. "You will constantly see neighbors walking their dogs. In fact, There are very few neighbors here that don’t have at least one dog. There is a dog park in the neighborhood. Also, there are doggy bags placed in kiosks throughout the neighborhood. This is an extremely dog friendly area. "

"It’s near everything which makes thing convenient. Everyone is welcoming and friendly. There is always something to do for entertainment. Many choice to choose to eat from. The community is Pet friendly filled with nature parks Nd trails with lakes for fishing. North east Raleigh is a beautiful place to be. Warm and welcoming. "

"Do are present and welcomed in Addison Reserve Townhomes. They must be leashed of course. The sidewalks make walking dogs nice. Neuse River Trail access about .25-.50 miles away, also. "

"Many young families in our neighborhood. Nice park to play with wooded trail, two baseball fields, tennis courts & basketball courts. Luminaries align all streets every Christmas Eve, and many homes decorate for the season. Most neighbors tend to their landscaped lawns with seasonal flowers."

"I've lived here 12 years, the area is a diverse mix of people, the neighborhood crowd are very physically active (lots of walking, running, bike riding, golfing) and the location is perfect, it's central to just about everything. I feel it's one of Raleigh's best kept secrets."
