8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf your kids are BIPOC, do not send them here. Period. My kids were the only black kids in their classes. This wouldn't have been an issue if it weren't for the blatant racism they endured from the adults and kids at this school. From the teacher moving my child's desk away from the other kids and into a corner by herself because she was being bullied by a boy there, to the principal wanting me to choose a time for my child's detention without telling me why she was getting one (that same boy called my daughter a racial slur and she rightfully punched him), to the teacher's assistant screaming at my child and snatching a drawing she was working on, balling it up, and throwing it in the trash, this school was absolute HELL on my family. And I can't forget when the teacher kicked my daughter out of class and made her go in the hallway because she wouldn't stand and say the pledge of allegiance (which is illegal to do btw). All of those incidents were for just one kid. The crazy part is the principal told me that the teachers just started diversity training toward the end of the school year. Really?? After the damage was done?Children can tell when their teacher doesn't like them. So my baby spent 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, with an adult authority figure who showed her that she didn't like her with her actions and tone of voice. My heart hurts just remembering. If anyone ever does a class action lawsuit against this school, I'd gladly join. But there's no removing the racial trauma my babies experienced here.Parent Review2y ago - Thomas Jefferson Middle School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current student at TJMS and I would like to say Mr Benke, Mrs Olsen, Mrs Tone, Mrs Highland, Mrs Such, Mr Rooks, Mrs Janowiak, are all awesome. I like this school but there are some problems. Lately there have been rumors that a person (I will not say who for their safety) has been vaping in the school bathrooms. There have in fact been school fights (rarely) and last year two fire alarms pulled by dumb students. I like the "Valpo Vikings" concept and hope it continues. Feudal day for 6th graders is in my opinion the most fun part of all. Over all I would rate this school a 4/5 and 8/10. Also in the girls locker room you guys need to refill the soap dispenser.Student Review7mo ago - Valparaiso High School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to four school districts in my lifetime and this was by far the most balanced education I received. I felt the teachers cared and the ability to get involved in whatever you wanted was unmatched. The school is beautiful with a ton of great amenities.Parent Review2mo ago - Check out schools near 309-311 Spectacle Dr.
