5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have loved being a part of the Paden community. This year is no different. We were concerned when the former principal left the school right after the school year started that what we love about the school might disappear. The interim principal Mr Flores has made connections with us and other families. The staff is welcoming, the art docent program is amazing, they have a makers space and a library with inclusive books. This school is my only experience with public schools and I am happy to be a part of the Pelican communityParent Review11mo ago - Encinal Junior/Senior High

"Alameda is the gem of the Bay Area. You never have to leave the island, people are friendly and the weather is perfect"
- Pacita C. D.

"Moving to Alameda CA is a joyous occasion for many people who have discovered this wonderful island city. Many of my clients commute to San Francisco. When they couldn't afford to buy in the City, they decided to look to East Bay. It doesn't take them long to fall in love with our island that is so private and secure, yet so conveniently located for easy access to other cities. There is a wonderful collection of vintage homes, ranging from beautiful Victorians, stately Tudors, charming Craftsman and many styles of bungalows. This is truly a history and architecture buff's paradise. Alameda has great climate, great schools, and believe it or not, a wonderful selection of restaurants and ethnic cuisine. SHOPPING. We think we've "arrived" now that our Alameda Town Centre shopping center by the beach features Trader Joe's, Old Navy, Bed Bath & Beyond, TJMaxx, Kohl's. In May 2008, the historic and restored Alameda Theater opened its doors to our first 8-cineplex. DOWNTOWN. As for fine restaurants....the chef of the famous Baywolf Café in Oakland has opened his own restaurant in Alameda called Pappo's. We also now have a Cuban restaurant called Havana's. There's a really good Vietnamese restaurant called Dragon Rouge, the freshest sushi at Yume, dim sum at EastOcean, and more. And now, we have Zen Asian Fusion Tapas Bar, Spice I Am (Thai), Burmese Super Star, Angela's Bistro opened next to the newly restored an historic Alameda Theater. Besides the competing coffee powerhouses Starbucks and Peets, wine afficionados can go to Alameda Wine Company for wine tasting and to pick out wines from California and from all over the world. EASY COMMUTE. We commute to San Francisco via ferry and express bus to SF. Or take the regular bus to Oakland to catch BART. But the express bus and the ferry are the best and most enjoyable ways to go to the City. ALAMEDA SCHOOLS. Alameda has great schools, and is the school scores are collectively better than other cities."
