8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIneffective administration has a trickle down effect and they choose to do nothing about it. They brow beat teachers who in turn lose their enthusiasm. Test scores and morale among students and teachers have never been lower. You can see it in their faces. In a school this small, the principal should know every kids’ name...not here though. Two of my kids were honors and AP and the kids from Mt. Sinai and other neighboring districts ran circles around them in college. That was the inspiration for this review. All of the pieces fell together when my twins revealed how their Hs experience really was in retrospect. "Beautiful area. I grew up here and bought my home here due to good school district and proximity to family , I feel the neighborhood needs more residents to clean up and maintain property to the roadside, quite honestly people are slobs . I take pride in my home . But also there are rentals in my community which is fine but the landlords don’t care to make sure they stay neat and clean. People should be fined for not cleaning up debris,leaves and keeping garbage and junk on the property to look at from the road. This infuriating behavior should be fined. You would see the property values elevate if this is what takes place. "

"I’ve lived in Sound Beach for 4 years now and have had family here for almost 20 years. It’s a great place to call home. I would highly suggest it based on the schools alone."

"Difficult old secluded beach community back roads no sidewalks no street lights very hilly bumpy roads a lot of over grown trees lots of water run off when it rains puddles steep hills town doesn’t clear roads well at all in the winter you lose power a lot above ground wires cable as well"

"We have lived here for over Forty years. It is located near to the east end of Long Island for easy access to great beaches. Near transportation to NYC. Near the Long Sound for Ferry access to New England. "

"This was a wonderful getaway from urban living. Can walk to private beach and feel safe. Sound Beach is a charming town, 15 minutes from Port Jefferson. Excellent Miller Place Schools."

"This is a legal two family duplex home in a countrified family area near beach with great schools. You can live on one side rent the other.for an income. Both units have separate utilities and a full basement with W//D hookup. "
