5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf you report something to the administaration especially if you have an issue well then you need to be ready to be under attack and for administration to bully you and your child!!! Instead of solving the issue they try to make up issues or redirect the problem or they just never respond. In person or email! Bullying is the least of your worries at this school.Parent Review6y ago - Nalle Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent of an 8th grade Academy student and I think this school would be great if there were more visible authority figures, more qualified and quality instructors, and the school day wasn't spent trying to keep children in order, the school year has been extended so when the kids have breaks they students who are not in intersession have skill retention activities so that they don't lose what they've learned, and their summers shouldn't be shortened because in my opinion it's not how long they spend in school but the quality of what they're learning and qualifications of the instructors to be able to reach these students.Parent Review6y ago - Check out schools near 300 50th St SE #401.

"The culture of the neighborhood makes it unique, which is sadly beginning to be erased by gentrification."

"Bus W4 or V7/V8. You can take the Metro at Benning Rd or also commute by car. Benning Rd and East Capitol can become congested."

"It's a busy area and there are lots of kids."
- Yolanda H.

"Neighborhood isn’t bad for the most part. Pretty quiet and everyone speaks. My car was broken into because family member didn’t lock my door, they didn’t get anything but money out my cup holder and my aux cord. Every now and then you will hear gunshots. Esp on New Years. It was my first New Years and it was too much."
- Theresamccoy

"Family oriented, friendly neighbors, walkable, tree lined streets and usually quiet. Definitely a place to call home. "
- Monea G.
- Resident

"A few neighbors have poorly secured fences and so, occasionally the dogs get out. The dogs are typically friendly but do not appear as such due to their size and breed."
- Monea G.
- Resident

"I'm fairly new to the area. I'm not fond of it but it could be worse off. I do like that a lot of the vacant homes are being bought, renovated, and lived in as opposed to just being flippers."
- Monea G.
- Resident
- 5y ago
"The commute is convenient during the week, and a little less so on the weekends. The V1 takes you to the national mall area via navy yard and south west. Otherwise, the U8 and W4 or the blue line metro are the primary modes of public transportation."
- Monea G.
- Resident
- 5y ago
"A wide variety of drivers. Quite a few car accidents near where Benning Rd and Southern Ave intersect. There is a Kip Charter School not too far."
- Sabrea A. A.
- Resident

"Neighborhood is quiet for the most part b uh t it does have its bad moments of gjn shots and car accidents. "
- Emily

"My family has lived in this neighborhood for over five years. We've never had any issues with safety. Best things about this area are the metro bus/train lines. There are lots of nice families with kids; most are low-income. Schools are not great with the exception of one of DC's best charter schools: KIPP DC. Things that need to be improved: some properties are unkempt, there are very few public parks/playgrounds, and the only sit-down restaurant is a Denny's. City services used to be atrocious, but got a lot better when Fenty became mayor. Overall, this is a nice place to live. It's residential, on its way up, and most people are friendly. And the proximity to Capitol Hill for the price cannot be beat!"
