6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a great school. The only downside is that it is a little rough when trying to maintain an IEP or 504 plan for a child with special needs, but once you get through the meeting and keep it in place when you need it, they do great on working with the child. For emotional or mental health support, the school counselor is very involved. Most teachers are great and communicate well. They try to motivate and make learning a little more fun. I do feel that sometimes the homework work load is TOO MUCH compared to when I attended middle school. But I think they are trying to work on this from what I see. The current principal (and assistant principal) are both very involved as well and always upbeat. They do take things seriously when needed though. The school tries to ramp up school spirit, which is always fun. The elective class choices they have now (that I totally wish I had when I was in school) are fantastic! For example, they have engineering and my son really enjoyed that as he is a “hands on” type of kid. I feel that the school is safe and in a great location. My son really enjoys Genoa. I would happily send any future children I might have here as well and would definitely stay in the district.Parent Review3mo ago - Westerville-South High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to school here all four years. Before I even started I joined a sports team. I saw how encouraging and personable each coach was (even on the other sports teams). Teachers encourage Freshman to ask questions and are very lenient the first week of school to help combat the stressfulness of starting at a new school. Teachers maintain their relationships with their students throughout the years, and generally encourage them to return and visit. Many teachers are willing to hang out and talk during their free periods. It makes South more like a family when students and teachers can connect on a personal, and respectful level. Many teachers treat students as if they were their own children. The staff is very involved in school events such as football games, basketball games, theater performances, pep rallies, and much more. It is the most diverse school in the district, and also has the International Baccalaureate program so people of many different races, backgrounds, ethnicities, and from all over the world go to class together each day. I would not choose any other high school in Westerville to attend if I had to go through it again. Westerville South High School is really a perfectly well-rounded school.Other Review4y ago - Whittier Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is in Kindergarten here & I am very happy with her experience so far. She has progressed rapidly with her reading and writing, she is more confident and comes home happy. Lots of events & ways to get more involved. I was surprised at how well the teachers knew my child & her specific needs. Excellent! Principal is visible, friendly, involved & is often seen giving extra attention to children who may be struggling. Administration is often snappy and unhelpful but that would be my only complaint so far.Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 294 Windemere Pl.
