1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrick Middle School was once the school that every Parent wanted their child to be at, Since Mr. Criddle has left the school it has really went down, down, down. That's really sad, because I feel that the students of today are not learning anything, most of them are in school only half day and some cannot come to the school at all only for testing. Mr. Criddle once had his staff on point as well as the students and the parents, it was a family school now it just feels like a building with people in it, I think that the school district such model Frick after Mr. Criddle, meet with him to find out what worked for the students, parents, staff and administration of the school so that the children can return to receiving a better education.Other Review9y ago - Markham Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son went here for kindergarten and loved it even though most of it was online. Later he was able to do twice a week for a few hours and I got to meet more staff. The teachers were amazing as well as all the staff that worked here while my son attended. My son learned so much here which was a surprise with a lot of it being remote. I really appreciate the time and care the teachers and staff put into the students. It was really nice that even the principal met with the kindergartners and talked to them once a week with another teacher doing an activity with the kids over Zoom. I thought that was really nice for the principal to do that with his busy schedule so I can just imagine I know he do that for all classes. The facility is clean, well kept, and looked like they were expanding. I changed my son’s school to something closer to our house but I do miss him going to this school. We ended up at this school bc I was way past the registration deadline and this was 1 of 2 schools left with availability so I chose this since it was just down the street from his daycare in case she needed to take him or pick him up. We live in fruitvale but if we were to ever move to this area I would definitely re-enroll him again here. I’m really glad I didn’t judge this school off the low scores I saw online which I did my own research on, on how a lot of those scores are biased bc it’s based off the neighborhood and demographics.Parent Review2y ago - Castlemont High

"I just moved here; I just moved to Oakland. I'm a Philly boy so I'm used to urban environs, and was expecting Oakland to be somewhat similar to east coat cities. I was wrong. Oakland is beautiful, bustling - yet calm, and chalk full of culture. "

"I adore the trees. This landscape is extremely rare in Oakland. The trees run perpendicular to Havenscourt, and there aren't many scary jail like fences in this neighborhood. Plus the community is really active here. There are approximately 27 community members that are very active in this small community. Oh watch out if you litter, we will all get your attention. Anyways, just to keep it short, its a great neighborhood. "
