9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has minimal to no family engagement. The principal does not promote and appears to be against any community events. She does not work to build a friendly environment and puts in no work to have the teachers be involved with anything outside of the classroom. This school got rid of their music program and the gym instructor barely teaches sports or games that require multiple tasks. Children that have special needs are rarely accommodated…..the small support staff they have are so overwhelmed you rarely get a phone-call in return. This is the epitome of a “do the minimum required to exist” type of school environment. The land of the “no we cannot”. The teachers are scared of their boss. I cannot speak more poorly of this school.Parent Review11mo ago - Is 141 The Steinway

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBeing in this school has genuinely been one of the most torturing things ever. Everything starts off good in sixth grade, but once you get to seventh, it all goes downhill. My seventh grade teachers were the absolute worse, not to mention the constant reminders of “You’re not in sixth grade anymore, you’re growing up.” The Spanish teacher was honestly so rude, and forced everyone to participate in her class, along with keeping false promises. And the fact that we only learn Spanish for one year is dumb, it’s only because it’s the minimum requirement, which shows the lengths that this school could but doesn’t go to. Not to mention, that many of the teachers mention that because you’re in an “honors” class that you have to be a role model. I kept constantly getting reminded of it, everytime that the class would misbehave. “I’ve never seen an honors class behave this way.” - Every teacher I’ve had every single year. Additionally, there would also be so many “threats” that the teachers would make, such as losing your rights to have prom, or to go outside for “recess”. The environment is also very toxic, not even in a specific grade, all year round. I’ve seen sixth graders with worse language and actions than eight graders. Every year I’ve been at this school, I just got more and more excited to leave. I would not wish this experience at this school even upon my worst enemy.Student Review1y ago - William Cullen Bryant High School

"In my neighborhood, dog owners use dogs to guard the house. Dog owners like that my neighborhood have a lot of pet stores and parks such as Petco. My neighborhood doesn’t have a lot of rules when it comes to dogs, so they dog owners have a lot of freedom. Dog owners don’t like that my neighborhood is loud. Since it’s loud, the dogs like to start barking which gets very annoying."
