8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt was a very good school but they became too strict after Mr Rivera left and it can stress kids. And most teachers really play around with detention and laugh when kids get it for anything minor. You ask what's home work but you forget one thing detention even though they asked they don't have mercy. So I would say they should have more Mercy and less strict since I used to be late last year and never got detention since they would ask if if I have a excuse but It would affect my grade if I was late a lot and sometimes they'll give lunch detention so I would try not to be late. But now if you're late they give detention and no recess without any asking of why I was late and if I have an excuse. Also they do a lot of guilty by association. Hw isn't a really big deal but they give a lot but I'm not complaining about that kids don't like it but it helps to learn. Besides this it's a top school in the Bronx and I would recommend if they became a little more understanding why detention and home work exist and not play with it. I only got it once when we were writing a story in ELA and I asked my classmates what the homework was but they said everything except this one thing that I really didn't see why it needed to be filled but the teacher never said it was homework but assumed it was since everyone did it and gave detention. I was really sad and confused why the teacher would do that even though it was a story board planned thing, I forgot what it's called but it wasn't really useful since we write it on our notebook and the paper wasn't even the completed story we had to write it on computer. So I would say the teachers become less strict and stop laughing when kids do get detention and it's a good school and the 8th grade gets really serious and might stress you out but if you do it, it won't be a problem.Student Review1y ago - Pelham Preparatory Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal is lazy. He is not even there in the mornings. He treats people of color as second class citizens, and does not she women as equal. He claims that he knows the challenges of being a person of color because he is married to a Brazilian. The superintendent/district should look into it. Not to mention one of the Assistant principal dresses inappropriately with mini skirts and high heels. If you ask me it is inappropriate especially when you working with young adults and she likes to "touch" students and staff.Parent Review2y ago - Bronx Park Middle School
