6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family has had a great experience at Mayport Coastal Sciences Middle School. It was apparent to us on day one how invested the teachers and staff are in caring for and teaching these students. The staff there work hard to create a great learning environment and unique opportunities through clubs, in-class projects, and community involvement. The hands-on responsibilities of caring for and understanding the marine life provide them with not only a rich learning environment but, real-life skills. From their academics to extracurricular opportunities, Mayport is a great environment that is welcoming and supportive. I've seen first-hand the dedication of the teachers and staff there to ensure a positive and enriching environment.Parent Review1y ago - Neptune Beach Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 kids that attend Neptune Beach Elementary. One child has an IEP, and we have had a great experience with all of his teachers. The school has been very willing to provide appropriate accommodations so that my child is successful. This school is extremely inclusive. We have never had any experiences with bullying. The other students and general atmosphere have always been extremely encouraging and kind. My other child is in the gifted program. My child goes to the Gifted and Talented Education program (GATE) one day a week. And, the specialized teachers in GATE are amazing. My child enjoys his special GATE day so much. My child has learned public speaking, to research topics, take notes, and to ask insightful questions. My child also receives differentiated work based upon his skill level. I know that we are lucky to have gifted teachers and the GATE program b/c it is not available at all public schools. There are 2 playgrounds and both are a lot of fun. The school provides free breakfast and lunch too. The teachers dress up as fun characters in the car line, and play fun music to welcome the students. The PTA works hard to support the school, and offer fun activities for the kids. I think the pickup and drop off process is extremely efficient and quick. A++ School!Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 2169 SANDY BAY Lane.

What Locals Say about North Beach

"Good area mostly because it’s pretty safe and close to the beach. Neighborhood isn’t friendly to neighbors. People aren’t courteous and kids vandalized my property. "

"I love the schools the neighborhood is great and the crime rate is low I would definitely recommend this neighborhood to someone "
- Jo B

"None, except the local habits that have become like an institution: private impromptu fireworks at the boat dock every July 4, but can also sit on the dock and watch numerous displays up and down the intracoastal sans the crowds and traffic; golf carting to a friend’s house with a cooler. But mostly just quiet, each to his or her own. It’s wonderful."

"Jacksonville is a large geographic area and North Beach doesn’t have easy access to freeways. Commuting is not fun. "

"Besides being within ez walking distance to elementary and middle school, there are many outdoor ways to connect with nature in this area, including Modesky Park and the Oak Harbor boat ramp and park, where you can bird watch, or put in a canoe or kayak to row the marked trails. So much nature to experience here. Is it perfect for everyone? Probably not. But it was perfect for me and my kids. From 1998 to now, and now it’s a great place to ease into retirement. No demanding HOA. Key to why we love this very unique and somewhat, in a beautiful way, eccentric neighborhood. If you’re not an average Jo, you may love this place as much as I have these last 25 years. "

"Specifically regarding the Oak Harbor subdivision: If you enjoy simple, outdoor activities with young children (picnic, walk, bike, fish, swing, etc.), Oak Harbor is fabulous. Creative teens can also find plenty to do, but if they go looking for trouble, they can find that here as well, almost as easily. High school is a real trek, but elementary and middle school are super convenient. So pros & cons, for sure, like everywhere. I think it’s a perfect place for young folks on a budget with young kids to get started (and no HOA—good for creative homeowners!)"
