10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHad two of kids in Highcrest over the past 3-5 years. I chose to move to Wilmette because of the school district 39. However, Highcrest was the worst middle school experience. The administers don't know what kind of materials each teacher uses and how they approach to teach things in class. Many teachers are very biased and tend to select the classroom materials based on their personal philosophy (they don't care about the standard curriculum). There was a math teacher qualification issue years ago in Highcrest and now the language teachers (Spanish and ELA especially) are very very disappointing. They are so arrogant and have no passion to teach in fair and safe environment.Parent Review3y ago - Harper Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI know alot of folks have a claim this is a great school but i find them to single out kids and focus and pick on certain kids. My kids was getting bullied and instead of telling the parents of the kid what he was doing the reprimanded my kid and told him he was not alot to play with the other kids so he doesn't get hit. I mean what.. it just feels like the staff wants to do the least amount of work to get to any place and I am not sure they are committed to the students and their safety. From a learning perspective, O don't see how they are challenging the kids at all, we got so much more in private school that we wonder why the tax $$ go here at all.Parent Review2y ago - Wilmette Junior High School

"Having a CTA station within a mile from our house makes the commute to Chicago doable. Depending on the day driving to and from the city during rush hour using Lakeshore or 94 is a hassle..."
- Adroaras

"Great. All back roads to NU. never have to get on the free way. Only mild back UPS on Greenbay avenue during rush hour. There are lots of schools along the way which can slow you down due to buses and speed zones but that is the least of my worries "

"I have lived on and off in Wilmette for 30+ years. Grew up here. Eventually moved back here to raise my own family. Its one of the safest places in the country. The schools are excellent. The parks are beautiful, clean and have updated equipment. The Park District, With all that it has to offer for kids and adults, is incredible. The people are actively involved throughout the neighborhood. There are a few new dining and nightlife venues that are helping to make Wilmette all inclusive. Access to a great pool facility and one of the best beaches on the North shore just make it for this area. I highly recommend Wilmette to any young couple getting started, to anyone wanting to raise a family and to those looking to finish out their lives filled with quiet beauty in a safe place."

"Have lived here for 10 years. The schools are superb and the people are like people anywhere. Some are nice and some are snotty but you can ignore them. Its great for the things that matter. Traffic getting into Chicago is usually bad but the Metra train is great."

"Walking distance to everything - CTA, Metra, Parks, Beach, shopping in Wilmette and Evanston Central St. area. And a short drive to Sheridan Road/LSD and i-94.Phenomenal for families of all ages with nationally recognized and award winning schools. A fantastic and safe neighborhood and a hidden gem that borders Evanston. If there's a house that's within your budget range, make an offer - you will not be disappointed. "

"I used to live in this community years ago and loved every day. There are two malls within walking distance. A couple of bus lines that can take you the the downtown train. Excellent expressway access going both north or south. The Park district is right across the street with an amazing Gym, child care and much, much more. LOVE Wilmette, and this area of it."
