6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageComing from a former student (Who is now at Oak Manor and wishing to go back to Howard), I can say that this school is pretty great. although, yes, the kids of teachers don't get in trouble as often and it somewhat DOES rely on social groups, the staff was very fun, hardworking, and helpful. I'll admit that my second grade experience wasn't the best, but that's just because of my opinion of the teacher. Third grade was awesome as long as you got Mr.Todd as your homeroom teacher, Fourth was a bit... rough. I liked my Homeroom but the switching teacher was very condescending and talked down to us quite a bit. I absolutely loved fifth grade, Mrs. Bowser was the best teacher I've ever had and I hope your child gets to be in her fifth grade class. I learned A LOT from this school both academically and behaviorally and I wish that I could go back at least to visit my old teachers and friends in the lower grades. Also, bullying rarely occurs at this school, so there's no need to be worried about that! But back to the "Social Groups" thing. It is sadly kind of true, if you're not in one of the five main cliques you're pretty much unappreciated. "There are many philanthropic groups, music groups, sports, races, and great fundraisers, especially the Brawley family fish frys at the Eagles Club. Lots of trivia nights for many different groups. Always something to do in and around town."

"I haven't lived here long but the neighbors seem great and it's always felt safe untill about a week ago when out car was broken into. we now have a camera and no one else seems to have any issues. It feels like an isolated inciedent so I would still recommend!"

"There is only the Dial a Ride! No Uber, I think Lyft may come from another town for a fee. My commute is fine as I have a car. However if I were to have transportation problems, I would be in trouble. There is nothing from Niles to other towns. If there were, the prices would be more than a person could pay. "

"Loud neighbors. There are neighbors in this neighborhood that have race cars that drive fast and you can hear from many block always. There is also one with a dirt bike track in their back and side yard that comes up on the side walk. I would be worried walking or riding bikes on the sidewalk in fear of being creamed by a dirt bike."

"You are a. 30 minute walk to down town Niles. Sidewalks are available once you reach Ballard elementary. 15 minutes or less to any Niles school. 15 minutes or less to groceries, and hardware store. Approximately 5 minutes to 31 bypass. "
