3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI only went to MHS as a freshman, but I would still like to share my experience. This school is a tough school. There are fights at this school pretty much every day. Many of the rules aren't enforced, so it's really easy to get away with breaking the rules. There are a lot of students that will say the N-Word all the time. There are gun and bomb threats at least once per semester. There is a dress code in the student handbook, but it's not enforced, so you'll see kids at school wearing very skimpy clothes and then complain that the dress code is too strict because one security guard actually enforces the rules. This is also a school where students are "tolerant", but only if you agree with their values. Vaping is a huge issue at MHS, so avoid using the restroom before school and during lunch. This school is really spread out, so you might have to run to class, or you will get locked out of your classroom and have to get a pass from security. This school also has trouble finding teachers and some teachers expect you to teach yourself everything from a packet. The classes are also really short. 50 minutes (40 minutes on Wednesdays), is not enough time for a teacher to give their lecture. Participate in Honors/AP/Dual Enrollment classes as much as possible because they are smaller and less tedious. School guidance counselors take forever to respond to your emails. When they do, they make up their own excuses and rules for why you can't be in a class you wanted. If you are looking to graduate early, don't attend MUSD. It is extremely rare for MHS students to graduate early. You are not allowed to enroll in AP classes as a freshman, but you can enroll in dual enrollment classes. Be prepared to have to do a research project for a class and realize that the school Chromebooks are extremely locked down and most websites are blocked. Don't ride the school bus. The school buses are crowded and I have been bullied on the bus. Dismissal is a mess. Everyone I know who has driven on Honeycutt Ave during MHS dismissal can agree with that. This school does have some good things. It has a wonderful, award-winning music program. The CTE classes offer college credit and/or certification. The sports programs and spirit line are also very popular. If you don't participate in a particular program and are just looking for a good school, don't choose MHS. I wish you the best in making a good educational decision.Other Review1y ago - Maricopa Wells Middle School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think this school is amazing, this school teaches a lot of very new things every day, sometimes there could be teachers not helping with bullying because I am getting bullied by many people because of my style, height, and what I look like. The teachers here are amazing my favorite is Mr. Danko he is respectful funny and teaches us greatly. I would recommend this school 100%.Student Review11mo ago - Butterfield Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kids attended here for about two years. Not impressed with the school. My son attended 3rd grade recently and his teacher was not really encouraging and almost seemed to bully my son. Also, this school does't seem to address bullying in an effective way. It was an okay experience....not the best. I changed to the Kyrene School district and it is night and day. Wish we had the type of support at Butterfield maybe we would have stayed.Parent Review1y ago - Check out schools near 19962 N Donithan Way.

"it's Grown on me, I didn't like the idea of living out here, but it's what I could afford at the time, HWY 347 can be a pain, wish they would use our tax dollars to add more routes to get to the I-10 freeway"

"There is no public transportation at this time therefore you must have a vehicle, bike or rides are such as uber/lyft. Most people in Maricopa commute into town (Chandler, Phoenix, Tempe, Etc.) for work."

"The 347 is horrible. Accidents daily at Riggs backups can take hours to clear. Trying to get out of copa can be a nightmare, have had to adjust my work schedule so I leave before the rush at 5am and get home before the backups at 3"

"my neighborhood has great access to all main roads as well as public transportation. But if you work in any other town especially scottsdale plan on leaving work no later then 2:30pm and driving to work in the morning plan on leaving no later then 5:00 am or you will be waiting in traffic for atleast an extra 1hr without any accidants or hold-ups. S.R 347 is awful and desperatley needs to be widened theirs no choice to it or move."

"On a good day you are 20 mins to the I-10 at Chandler. Lots at Chandler with the 202 being right there, the Arizona Mills Mall, Harkins Theater, and even IKEA. 347 is a bit crazy but that just means you need to pay attention to the road and stay off your phone. I didn't commute daily so it was perfect for me. "

"For everyday living, North Maricopa is surprisingly good. Everything you need is here, plus additional is being built. For entertainment and nightlift, there are two casinos, one 5 minutes south the other about 20 minutes north, and the quality of entertainers is good to excellent, but that's about it. Broadway-quality shows at Gammage Theater are about a half-hour north, along with most everything else."
