7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAnytime there is an issue, instead of addressing the wrongdoer in the situation, they tell both parties to stop. They do not take bullying seriously. Bullying is a real problem in this district because the children are taught by their parents to behave this way. The staff in the elementary school are unforgivably rude and for no apparent reason (with the exception of one nice lady in the front office--but usually you don't get her, you get the others that are rude not only to the children and parents but grandparents too!) Teachers are not trained to respect those who have minority beliefs and take no care in protecting those minority children. I've had three children go through this school and it only gets worse. The Superintendent is helpful, but you can't go to the Superintendent every time there is problem. The teachers need better training on bullying and basic rights of those who hold minority beliefs. And the teachers need help with this. They have cut all the aids and there are too many children in each class as it is.Parent Review7y ago - Pottsville Area High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children go to this school and have been told not to tattletale when being bullied, transboys wearing wigs to school, very promiscuous females in this school and consistently filled with bullies who curse and have encouraged my kids to curse, to sneak and secretly do things parent wouldn't like and offered to bring him items to help the thing he told my child to do. Overall I wish I virtual schooled them instead.Parent Review4mo ago - Lengel Middle School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible. My daughter was followed into a bathroom by 3 girls who shoved her to the ground repeatedly. Kids bully all along the hallways and lunch rooms while teachers talk or blatantly ignore it. Office staff turns away kids who try to report bullying. Kids were forced to remove "LGBT" shirts because they were "offensive", only had the words "#show your colors"Parent Review5y ago - Check out schools near 1976 Howard Ave.

"I've lived on this block for the last 3 years and I like it here. This area is very quiet and the people are nice and friendly. Also there are lots of big American Toads jumping all around. They are friendly too and let you hold them. I have 2 big ones living in my apartment. I recommend this area to everyone. See you all soon."

"I agree with previous comment. Police always on this street, West Race St. Pottsville, PA. Lots of drugs, in area. People walking up & down street, all hours of the night. Houses are very old, and falling down. Alot of vacant houses. Most Landlords are from out of area, do not care about property, just collecting rent. Majority of residents, do not work. Depressed area. Pottsville School is really good, though. Very few stores, restaurants, need a car; very little public transportation. Streets are in very poor condition & not clean. City has lots of litter. Locals moving out (getting pushed out). Lived here most of my life, watched the place, deteriorate."

"Alot of police activity. Some buildings are run down. Not a great place to live. The schools are ok, not great. Drug activity seems to be high. I would not want to raise my children here. It's okay if your single, or have grown children. Beware of deadbeat landlords."

"i lived hee for 14 yrs and i want to move. this place still seems like its back in the early 1900 heating their houses with coal and oil. but once your here its like youre trapped, the pay is not good. if you want to do really go to good restaurants or such its about a 30-45 min drive. wish i jad never came here."

"Lived here for 3 years up until my husbands job relocated us out of state. Pottsville has excellent schools and the town is excited and proud of the football team. Both my teens went to the highschool and had good experience. The curriculum offered includes Honors and A.P. "
