9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI'm alumni from 80s. The school has certainly fallen in terms of whom it hires. So much bloat in staff. The AD is a joke and leaves at noon everyday yet I am sure collects a full paycheck. The Asst Principals are almost 1/2 dozen and work as hard as old Twitter employees before Elon Musk bought the place. The teachers aren't the problem here though they aren't half bad just a little bit less intelligent than their predecessors. They give loads of homework in lieu of actual teaching the students how to think. The place is way different than it used to be in terms of sports because the AD has clearly made many bad decisions and just cares about his pension and nothing else. A great place to go if you're woke and you want your kids to work at Starbucks.Other Review4mo ago - Oka (Isojiro) Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOk, bordering on negative. I have seen kids get bullied and the bullies not being punished at all. I have seen bullied kids get treated as if they were the problem by teachers and staff because they really like the kid who is acting as the bully (better grades, legacy family, etc.). I have seen a severe lack of resources and experience in the "IEP" team. The front office often is rude when dealing with parents and kids. There are definitely a lot of improvements to be made. I completely agree that if your child has autism or ADHD as another reviewer mentioned below, you should go elsewhere. There is just not enough experience or compassion for the atypical child here to make it a positive experience for a child with disabilities.Parent Review3y ago - Talbert (Samuel E.) Middle School

"We have lived in HB for 29 years. It used to be a sleepy little beach resort. Now that we are "on the map", traffic is terrible. If you live anywhere near Beach Blvd, Adams, Goldenwest or any of the other major streets (which there are many) you will hear traffic, especially motorcycles. Of course, this is just the price we pay for living in a city with great weather, access to upper scale shopping, freeway close to Disneyland, mountains and the desert. If you are considering HB and have never been here, I would consider visiting on a weekend so you can see and hear the impact the traffic will make on your daily life."

"I work based at home so I couldn’t tell ya. But it’s close enough to downtown when I have meetings down there to ride my bike down. And good access to freeways, the most I commute is to North County SD or Beverly Hills."
