My child attended this school last term. Her experience at Broadacres was not pleasant. Academic standards were very weak. She is an average student at best, but at this school she was top of her class. The children at this school are not disciplined. Bullying is rampant, especially on the playground. The school appears to be a suburban area surrounded by well-kept homes in a decent area. Well this is a false perception! The parents of most of the students are single mothers who moved back home to live with their parents. In many cases the grandparents are doing the parenting.Thank God for grandparents or this school would be even worse! There are also an above average number of foster children at Broadacres.Most teachers here seem to have a very lackadaisical attitude towards teaching. Teaching the children academic skills is not a big priority. The principal is ok, just don't expect much from her. I urge you to sent your children to either a magnet, charter, or private school if your child's education is important to you. Beware of Broadacres!!On a final note, one of my in-laws is a substitute teacher for LAUSD. He absolutely will not substitute at this school due to the terrible behavior and lack of respect of the students. In fact the school has difficulty attracting substitutes - many simply refuse to be a substitute teacher at Broadacres......this is very telling. BEWARE!!!!

Great school, 2 kids attended Curtis and both did well and continue to do well because of the work done by teachers preparing them for future studies. Being involved with the school and staff makes a difference! Would highly recommend Curtis as place for your kids education path and also solicit your involvement with what goes on at the school.
