If you are looking for something where they teach outside the box and help support kids who need more (Special Education, TAG, 2E, etc) then this is not where you want to go. Expect traditional "sit and get" instruction for hours on end with traditional "write a paper" ways to show your learning. Expect A lot of "write a paper" type assignments nightly. The homework amount is over the top busywork. Deeper learning does not happen. Differentiation does not happen. If you don't fit the mold of typical, you will probably struggle. The bullying that takes place is usually taken care of by other students who stop it and there isn't a lot of it. Students who struggle with attendance or are unengaged in school are not supported. We continue to be amazed by how well the teachers and staff know the students, and how much effort goes towards ensuring they feel a part of a positive community. They are teaching the whole child and make an extra effort to ensure values (safe, kind and respectful) are emphasized. Everything from the playground to stem, music and pe wow us. The Hallinan community has been a key contributor to the positive development of both our kids. "It’s near several parks and schools, very well cared for area. You can either be in downtown Portland or out in the country in 15-20minutes. Close to downtown Lake Oswego also and only 1 mile from local grocery store. Very safe area and Lake Oswego police quite responsive to the smallest problem because there are no big ones, lol. "
