8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDavidson is a fabulous place to learn. My husband and I are both educators (we've taught all the way from elementary classrooms to graduate school courses) and are blown away by the teachers here. We pinch ourselves that we get to send our kids to a place where they are loved, challenged, and accepted. The classroom teachers are exceptional, the connect team (music, art, PE, dance, etc.) really goes the extra mile with special clubs/activities, and the new principal is really, really strong. She leads by example, knows every kid, and is loved by the staff. Lots of parents support, and no kids get left behind. It's a rare place where kids of every SES, race, background, and learning ability make incredible academic progress AND are known and loved. Very proud to be part of this community! Thank you teachers & staff for your tireless efforts and loving our kids like they are your own!Parent Review2mo ago - William Amos Hough High

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome teachers are good and care, some don’t. Many long term subs. My freshman daughter was able to walk out multiple times, the security needs to be better. Only seniors can park at the school, so others have to park at Bailey Road Park and walk or pay for parking at private homes nearby. The morning car line is awful for the Senior lot because so many people pass the line and make a u turn to come in from the other direction and cause the people from the left to have to wait longer. I did notice police handling that toward the end of the year. Busses pick up nearly an hour before school starts less than 2 miles away. Very large and crowded school. Communication is fair from the school, but there is very little communication from the teachers. My daughter’s English teacher resigned at the end of the 3rd quarter, and there was no communication about this and her replacement to the parents. Guidance counselors are nice, but seem to be too busy to do much to help with your child. Cell phone rules do not seem to be enforced at all except by one teacher my daughter had. Homework Assignments are accepted late, which I know may be an after effect of Covid, but it’s really not teaching the children about deadlines and staying on task. It just seems like the school is very apathetic about everything and spills over for those students that aren’t very motivated. I did have a few phone calls with the new AP Katie Dean and found her to be very kind and helpful.Other Review10mo ago - Check out schools near 16906 Summers Walk Blvd #2.

"Davidson has a small town feel and has a college, but it is near Charlotte and Lake Norman. There are nice parks, tennis courts, walking paths, theater, disc golf, movie theaters, good schools and great restaurants . I recommend it as a great place to live for people of all ages."

"Christmas Parade ... And pretty much that’s it. A bunch of snob old sour people that nothing make them happy! Stay away from this area! "

"We just moved here so we are still discovering what the area is like. It is very quaint, though, and extremely convenient to all sorts of needs/interests. We’re looking forward to checking out the local restaurants, farmers market, and the free concerts on the town green. The library is cute but could use an expanded section for young readers (8-16 age group). Love that the whole town is mostly centered on a small downtown area and very walkable. "

"I moved from Ohio blindly to Davidson. I lucked out picking a saw area. But renting an apartment in this area and the surrounding areas is so much more expensive than Ohio. I am in no position to buy a home so I feel stuck. "

"Davidson is a beautiful town. It may be a college town, but it's quiet and charming. Davidson is also a great place for families with access to excellent public schools. "

"Davidson is a family friendly little town, about 15 miles north of Charlotte. Most of neighborhoods are walking distance from the charming downtown, where there are restaurants and stores and concerts and Farmers' Market from Spring to Fall. "

"Davidson is a wonderful family/college town with restaurants, shops, convenient location. The center of Davidson revolves around Main Street, where there is a library, town hall, coffee shop, restaurants and the Town Green, scene of many family activities inclu.ding the Concerts on the Green during the summer"

"Amazing historic community with the lovely Davidson College for a backdrop. Walk the paths through Davidson and hear the tower clock chime on the hour and half hour. Grab a coffee at Summit and sit outdoors for a free concert and wonderful meal. Davidson has it all and even more that a small town can offer. "
