4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have loved this school. The teachers are fun and engaging and the kids come from a range of incomes. We have two able-bodied children without learning challenges so I can’t speak to the schools abilities with special needs, but we have loved our time with these teachers. The school itself is historic and a charming space for learning. Like most public schools there is an emphasis on behavior and meeting grade-specific metrics, but the teachers also seem very willing to meet every individual where they are and work with kids at every level.Parent Review1y ago - Kalamazoo Central High School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCertain teachers at KCHS are very pushy about their politics. School should be about learning and growing. In order to do that topics need to be discussed and debated in a fair and mediated way. That does not happen here. This schools focus seems to be only to get kids to do better on state tests and "prepare" them for college, which, by the numbers, they fail at. It's very disheartening to talk to my child about school and learn that it has only gotten worse since I attended high school here 20 years ago. If your child is going to succeed here you as a parent will have to be more heavily involved in talking with your student about topics the school deem unimportant. Overall I would say the lack of an actual education is NOT made up for by the Kalamazoo Promise. Your child would be better served at a better school and then having to find a way to fund their own college education. If I could go back a do it over my child would not be at any KPS school.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 1610 N Burdick St.

"Most areas on the north side are high crime areas drugs being sold and even shootouts sometimes! Police patrol the areas yet there no help either they’re too late to always be patrolling or when they are present they treat everyone like criminals! I wouldn’t recommend moving on the north side if you don’t know people in the area"
