Hillcrest Elementary has loving, nurturing, caring teachers who are willing to do what it takes to help students achieve high standards. They have a great after school tutoring program for students who may be struggling. The classrooms are small, which allows more one on one teaching for students. We are staffed with highly qualified teachers who gives much of their time to students as well as the community.

If your child is involved in basketball, then this is the school for you. Otherwise, nobody gives a hoot. Sports is the focus and the accomplishments of students who are not in sports or another special program are barely acknowledged. There is virtually no communication from the school to the parents or students regarding anything (except sports). There’s a systemic issue, starting with the superintendent, that it’s appropriate to be unprofessional toward parent concerns. The operating procedure of the school is to punish every student for a select few because they don’t want to take the time to figure out who the problems are, even though the parents have found the information in less than 5 minutes. The teachers are the best thing about the school. They care about their students and they really try to get them involved. I could write pages about all of the shady stuff that’s been allowed by the administration but the long and short of it is that unless it’s about sports, the school just really doesn’t care.
