"I moved here because the people were and are friendly, there are parks near by and people seemed to always be out and about. I love being able to walk to the corner store or to get my nails done (a little farther). Its quiet and yet near enough to shopping, the interstate, and to work."

"Lowell has a lot to offer with two colleges, a nice downtown, semipro baseball and hockey teams, a large train station, the river, tax free shopping in Nashua and some really nice parks. I lived in the Highlands for four years and there are some really good people there. I had great neighbors for the most part, but there are also a lot of “not so good? people in the area. Crime was getting really bad and that was back when the economy was good. I had a big problem with vandalism and graffiti. My mail box would get “tagged? just about everyday and I would paint over it about once a month. I was leaving for work one morning and noticed the entire side of my house was covered in graffiti. My driveway was also the local drop off spot for stolen cars and bicycles. I had to leave when the dope heads starting ringing my doorbell in the middle of the night trying to get money. Also, if you don’t like listening to rap music twenty four hours a day, stay away! Massachusetts is “wicked? expensive and I moved to Lowell because it is considered affordable, but if you can afford to pay a little more, I would try to find a house somewhere else, especially if you have children. If you are commuting into Boston, I would try Billerica or Wilmington. They both have train stations. Chelmsford and Westford have decent schools and if you can handle the commute, try Dracut or Tyngsboro. Andover is nice, but it is expensive. Anything closer to 128, such as Bedford, Lexington, Concord, or Lincoln, will be super expensive, but you might be able to find something priced lower in Burlington, Woburn or Maynard. Plus, you won‘t have to drive on the Route 3 parking lot."
