7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA lot of people in Pasadena send their kids to private school, but our oldest son wanted to go to PHS. We went in with low expectations, and have been very impressed.PHS' greatest asset is its teachers, the majority of whom are stellar. I can't say enough good things about them; they are so dedicated and genuinely care about their students. Just this morning, one of my son's teachers called me on the phone minutes after I sent him an email explaining that my son was sick and would miss his exam. Last month, his AP chemistry teacher arranged an all-day field trip to the Wild Animal Safari Park to work in their labs.One of my kids is in the the Law and Public Service Academy and he loves it. Again, the teachers in that academy are stellar. I have heard that kids really love the App Academy as well. If your child is coming to PHS from a non-PUSD middle school, I recommend plugging them into an academy so they can find community. One the negative side, the facilities are severely lacking, but PHS is set to get a major upgrade in the next few years. Reading some of the negative reviews below, it should be made clear that there is a new Principal now and it has brightened things a bunch. Our neighbors, also at SME, were applying outside the district until they heard the previous Principal was leaving. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is filled with townie bullies, the admin knows it, the district knows it, and they do nothing. My child was bullied and assaulted on campus, and they did nothing. My child isn’t the only one I know who was bullied and assaulted on campus, either. The academics are meh. Some of the teachers are dedicated and fantastic, while others are coasting to retirement. I have absolutely nothing great to say of this place other than, I know multiple kids scarred for life by this school and their position on hiding their heads in the sand when kids are being bullied and assaulted on campus.Parent Review8mo ago

"I live here, and have for 29 years. I am in my second home in Sierra Madre, having outgrown our starter home. This is like living in Mayberry - tight knit community, no traffic lights, thriving little commercial district with lots of al fresco dining, access to mountain trails, a few minutes drive to Pasadena or the mall. 25 min. to downtown LA (off peak hrs), 45 minutes to Santa Monica. under 2 hrs to Palm Springs "
