6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kid was bullied at this school. He would shut down because he wasnt protected and this was written up in a behavior report as "defiance." He was suspended for pushing the girl away because nobody was intervining. I told him he should call home instead of fighting with his hands. The day he called home, staff checked him for bruises and sent him back to class. After I called three times, the principal said the teacher heard the bully threaten to hit him. Both children were told to respect personal space and sent back to class. The teacher said my kid could not call home as I had instructed. I told her I diidnt want to teach him to be sneaky with a phone in his book bag, so a specific time was set to call home if needed. Oddly enough, he never needed to after that. It wasn't until the end of the school year that the bully was finally suspended without my kid having to react. A substitute saw the girl throw dirt in his mouth and kick him, so she was suspended for a half-day. This sort of thing went on all year long, but I trusted teachers to protect him and considered him dramatic. Believe your kid, expecially if they're the easier target for the school to blame.Parent Review10y ago - J E Holmes Middle

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has enjoyed sports offered at the school as well as his education. Every teacher, staff member, and coach we have interacted with has been encouraging, helpful, and easy to get in touch with when needed. The education he is receiving is what I believe to be the same or better than other schools in the area(he transferred into the school from a neighboring middle school and had some catching up to do). Overall our family is very pleased with Holmes.Parent Review7y ago - John M Morehead High

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a current junior at John M. Morehead High School and I give this school 3 stars. The school has prioritized its student athletes and more wealthy students over all other students. However, the school has recently shifted some of its focus on its art programs. They are beginning to offer introductory instrument and band courses (and in the past those have only been available to those already having taken the band courses in middle school). Moving on to teachers, oh what I have to say about the teachers!! In my freshman year, I had to take a recovery math credit course and i was absolutely horrified, but I am so glad to say that I had one of the greatest teachers there could ever be. Though the class was full of us apathetic students, she showed us that SHE cared and that she wanted US to care. She gave us all the tools possible to succeed in her class and she gave us the foundation for the rest of our high school education and beyond. I came into that class having less than the knowledge of sixth grade math and came out with 9th grade math skills. I also I had an English teacher that year with the same excellence. He provided a comfortable and safe learning environment cushioned with humor, kindness, and encouragement. Also he introduced us to some cool texts like Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. Then there is the Latin teacher who constantly tried to keep the class engaged with interesting Latin stories ranging from Romulus and Remus to Aeneas and Dido. Also if you showed an interest in the subject, all the work you could ever ask for would be at your fingertips. In conclusion, though i give the school 3 stars due to its unfair interest in student athletes and wealthier students, I give its teachers 5 stars!!Student Review9mo ago - Rockingham County Early College Hi

What Locals Say about Eden

"Clean yards and friendly neighbors that look out for each others. Been living here since 2017, plenty to do if you’re retired or have children, is a small town so there’s no night entertainment like in the city. The town has everything you need, like Walmart , Ace, food chain etc and lots of local options, a dog park and a nice hospital, except a movie theater but I think is coming but there’s an old style drive in Theater that is fun and full every weekend, people out of town come to it. There’s festivals, concerts and events, people also enjoy kayaking on the river and the town is clean and well maintained. Eden is 45 min away from Greensboro NC and 30 minutes from Danville Va. Love living in here. "
