6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTerrible leadership. The principal is biased and targets boys. They have to be perfect or else they get detentions for doing really nothing wrong. Such a shame because the other Wayland schools are good. So many upset parents.Parent Review6y ago - Bessie B. Baker School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers and staff are very condescending and tacky. Of the 4 teachers we have dealt with, one is a great teacher.Parent Review6y ago - R.J. Steeby School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children attend R.J. Steeby Elementary and I have never been more pleased. The leadership in this school signifies active involvement in the students' learning. Teachers are concerned about my children and all students in their classrooms. There are many opportunities for parents to become involved in the school and their child's learning. I love the Steeby Supercats.Parent Review10y ago - Wayland High School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis year has been nothing short of a challenge for us. We've been in the district for approximately 8 years and have never had issues until this year. Our child's 4th grade teacher, to put it lightly, is very unpleasant. She plays favorites, singles out select students, doesn't communicate or return emails and comes across as judgmental, condescending and narcissistic. Other students and their parents have expressed the same.Parent Review2y ago - Check out schools near 133rd Ave #B.

"Wayland seems to be a pet friendly town. I see people walking their dogs all the time. I don’t have one so I don’t look to see if the businesses or parks have water for them. "

"If you like big city life then don't bother because this is small town life at its best. We feel very safe here, and letting our kids (9 and 15) ride their bikes downtown and to the park and to their friends houses, is a luxury that only a small town like this can afford you. It is friendly here but maybe the feeling of security hinges on the fact that the state police make their presence felt as their headquarters are on Main St, and there's city police as well. The community feels welcoming and friendly and there are many churches to choose from. If you're looking for a party town, this is not it. There are a couple of pizza places to choose from, a couple of bars, but nightlife is not the big draw here. The local grocery store is a friendly market where the bag"boys" carry your groceries out and load them in the car for you. A tiny and historic library, antique shop, coffee shop, flower shop, flea market store, adorable pet store, a strangely out of place Dollar General and the ice cream shop are the draws to downtown. But there's a dry cleaner and 24 hour fitness center off downtown too. Everything you really need is nearby and still there's excellent access to the freeway. Oh, and if you want a day at the lake there's Gun Lake nearby, Yankee Springs Recreational Area, and it's huge. Also, there's a new casino at the next exit... not our thing, but something you should know about."
