5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageLet me start with saying that I was very excited to be sending my son to this school for second grade. It was a short walk from home, completely re built . Fresh and inviting. Through out the year we learned the harsh truth that this school over all was not only unsupprtive, but harmful to my son's emotional well being. He was being bullied relentlessly in our neighborhood and those same kids were continuing the harassment and physical abuse at school. Everytime a meeting ended I felt good about the plans to resolve this issue , only to find that it would last for about a week and then it was the same thing over again. It got to the point where I didn't feel my son was safe going to that school. I pulled him out early . Biggest disappointment I've faced with my son's education. He was so traumatized he didn't even want to play with his friends out front because he was afraid the 5th graders would come over . Yes, fifth graders were bullying a second grader. All they wanted to talk about near the end was the fact I was keeping him home. I informed them I would gladly bring my lawyer into court if that's what they felt they needed to do. I never heard from them again. Don't choose this school if you have another option. My son is now moving in with his dad full time so he can be at a different school. I've had him full time since pre K. This has been devastating for me and my entire family . Most of all my son.Parent Review6mo ago - Ballou Jr High School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile there are very beneficial classes for special needs students, there are below average, underneath decent academics, constant fights, and an inability to prevent unsafe behavior. Even simply from this semester, I happen to be a current seventh grader and other students have threatened to hurt me multiple times and I have seen even fellow classmates take drugs, smoke, and vape. I have known people around me who partake in sexual acts as 13, 14, and 15 with fellow schoolmates the same age. Fights and rumors of fights are constant, too. Instead of disciplining the students committing these acts, they rip on the other students to try and prevent them from becoming like misbehaving students (which is futile, must I announce). Students shout profanities at each other and the teachers and that isn't being talked about, yet students having a tardy or two gives them lunch detention, after-school detention, in-school suspension, and Saturday school? The most a student will receive for using e-cigarettes in the bathrooms is two days of ISS (in-school suspension). The school refuses to acknowledge students' well-beings, too. The principal herself will not care about students having anxiety attacks or other things affecting their ability to learn that is out of their control. A student has anxiety? They are written up and their phone, a safe place for that student, is taken. A student simply has a rumor going around? She physically searches the student's body and backpack. To conclude, Frank H. Ballou Junior High is not a good school because of lack of discipline, horrible student behavior, and an overall unsafe environment.Other Review10mo ago - Gov John Rogers High School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTotally disagree! Emerald ridge is awful!!! I've had 3 kids go to ER and there is clicks, fights, bullying, vehicle vandelism, drugs, and no control couple with a lousey education. One child attended Rogers, freindly , welcoming and inviting! Smaller and much more family oriented!!! DONE WITH ER!!!Parent Review9y ago - Check out schools near 13215 97th Ave E #303.
