We are a low income, inner-city school with about 40% of our students being English Language Learners and 10% are students with special needs. Our scores reflect those challenges. What scores don't reflect is that our kids are loved. There are extraordinary teachers at Santa Ana High School. We put relationships first. Our kids know everyday that they are safe, they are cared for and they are loved. We send kids to Stanford, Harvard, UCLA, USC, Berkeley--every year, but we also work miracles with the kids that are struggling in every conceivable way to find their talent, believe in their worth and find a way to be successful--which doesn't always come from a four-year university for all kids. I'm not just saying this because I teach there, I'm saying it because it's true and I am honored and humbled to be a part of this school every damn day.Teacher Review4y ago - Willard Intermediate School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWillard is the worst school I've ever been to no wonder why the teachers change schools to teach. I am a former student. I DO NOT reccomend your child to attened this school. It's ridiculous you would ever call this a school. Kids are talking back to the teacher all the time. Nobody does their homework. I would probably say 3 out of 5 kids to drugs or consume any type of alocohal beverage. There is NO future for people who attend this school. Its so sad to see such a horrible school. Nobody pays attention in class. I can honestly say I'm so glad I don't come here anymore or to any school in the Santa Ana Unified School District even though a few are okay. I didn't attened my 8th grade promotion because, I wasn't proud to graduate from this school. I got an award for U.S. History but, I don't care. I feel bad for everyone who has something to do with this school. Its such a horrible enviroment. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWilson provides a caring environment where each child's education is taken seriously. The expectations are high and each child is encouraged to do their best. Like any public institution, sometimes the process of qualifying students for extra help takes longer than we would like, but small groups and interventions are put in place meanwhile. The staff gets along well and works together to help the student population. There is a one star review mentioning a principal that is long gone. The current principal is caring and puts each child's best interests first. The school rules are be safe, respectful, and responsible. The PBIS program provides detailed steps for how this works at each level. Routine assemblies reward children for behavioral and academic objectives met. There is also a priority put on rewarding students who may be behind but are making progress. The office staff is caring and competent. The biggest compliment I can give is that I would feel comfortable if my own child was going to this school.Teacher Review1y ago

"Great access to the freeways, main roads, and major malls. If you work in the Cerritos area, the commute is around 20-30 min without traffic and 40-45 min with traffic. This is about 17 miles away as a frame of reference."
